Is it loyalty, or does he want game time and the chance to show what he can do? I'm not knocking the lad, btw - I'm delighted that he wants to stay with us - but I'm sure he won't be with us next season, and a full season in the spotlight with us will raise his contract bargaining value against other clubs.

| New owners. Offer him a renewed contract on dual terms for seasons after this one a sl contract the other a champ contract. That way no matter what happens with franchise we get a fee for him if he leaves as he'll be under contract. Is this possible??

| Whatever his reasons, I welcome his decision; it's probably fortunate that staying for the rest of the season is expedient for both him and us, but that's not important. Good lad.

No. As far as I know while you are in SL you can only offer him a SL contract. If you lose your license his SL contract becomes null and void

| well good on him for staying loyal, there's not too many who would have done that they would have looked at their own future and thought they would jump to a more stable ship

Of course he can. No one can force you to take on a job/contract you don't want to take.
Ferguson, like others in the past, will sell it the way they think best. Don't get me wrong, I don't blame the lad for going. He has his future to think of too. For him, this was the best decision. For others, it won't be. I don't care about Dale Ferguson now, he's not one of us. I [ido[/i care about Aaron Murphy. I hope he has a brilliant season with us.

| Surely if a players that good he would have stood a decent chance of joining a sl club at the end of the season anyway without jumping ship now

True, but what if he gets injured? What if his season goes down the pan? Who'll come in for him when his SL contract expires and we're playing in the Championship? You never now as a player. Huddersfield had made noises about him even before now, so if he wanted it, now was the time to do it. Not far to drive, stable club, rich owner, decent coach... OK, the jersey looks like a dog's just barfed on it and the fans are crap, but as a wage earner, you'd put up with that, wouldn't you?
