And they haven't shown otherwise. The bids of Crusaders and Harlequins have advantages none of the other clubs have, but we have advantages, in terms of community work, other clubs won't have. No point hanging everything on one issue like some are, using it as another stick to beat the RFL with.
Let me ask then, to those who say the RFL, SL and the whole process is 'bent' and 'corrupt' and other such words, why do you want to be in Super League if it is that way?

I don't know about bent and corrupt, but I don't like some of how they do their business. To answer the question, you want to stay in SL to watch the best players, to watch the highest standard of RL in our country , as well as the banter and rivalry between fans. Any fan, of any sports team, wants their side to play at the highest level, it's what team sport is about. Yyou can love RL, without loving the guys who run it.

| If anyone thinks we are going to get another franchise I'm afraid they are absolutely deluded!
At minimum, one is coming up and at least one is going down. What kind of scenario can you envisage for us to be kept in and someone else to be kicked out? I can't think of any possible way that the RFL could justify kicking a team out that hasn't been in administration and letting a team that's has been stay in. It couldn't be justified and probably leave the RFL open to legal action against themselves from who was kicked out.
The damage has already been done at the club and the damage is irreparable!

Like shifty said you want to see your team at the top level
at times i find SL dull, over hyped by the likes of eddie and stevo, ultimately deflating when we see our "superstars" stuffed by the southern hemisphere lot and as bent as it comes. Added to that i have really enjoyed watching the NL games, less hype, more individual, a bit more old fashioned in value if you like.
Would i prefer us to be in SL? probably, how do i rationalise that? i cant sorry.
Maybe a few years in NL might cure me

| I will support Wakey whatever league they end up in and if the club dies then my love for RL will die with it. I have played and supported this great game since I first went with my Father and Grandfather in 1968 Wakefield are an integral part of my life and now I can no longer play are my only link to rugby league.
All Super League as done is cause animosity between supporters and and uncertainty in the game. The truth is it is Rugby League not now and for what it is worth never will be a national game in my humble opinion. If expansion is what they want then surely Cumbria is the first point of call.I would rather go watch Wakey play Cas,Hudds,Leeds,Bradford and the rest than go to London or France, by all means create a French league and fill it with French players, but how many people can afford to travel to the south of France to watch their team play. I have some great memories of Wakefield and they will always be with me. It is a working class game born in a working class area THAT is the appeal of the game, anyone who says otherwise are deluding themselves.

A very good post that cuts through the bullpat!
I've often thought exactly the same with regard to the strengthening of the French game, we introduced SL supposedly to improve domestic standards and therefore the international standards of English RL.
Surely there is reason to explore the possibilities of doing something similar in France rather than sacrificing one, two or more of our own clubs in order to shoehorn French teams into the SL.

Apart from the date - my earliest memory is of watching the 1963 cup final with my mum and brother (my dad had gone to Wembley) then going out in to the garden with my size 3 rugby ball and "being" Neil Fox ( I was 9!) - you've summed up my feelings precisely. I am totally in favour of the game expanding but it should never be at the expense of what made it the greatest game in the first place - its honesty and integrity. The RFL should be busting a gut to make the rugby league heartland a fortress of the game - a place where RU especially and football are relegated to second place. You don't do that by dumping established teams and p1551ng off large numbers of supporters.

So you know this. You're the same deeHell who spent month baiting Cas fans as to how great we were and how crap they were and now you turn heels and run deserting the club in it's hour of need - fickle or what. Just as well others stay the course isn't it. I'd of let it go as opinion but considering the posturing on your part in recent times I just can't. Where you deluded 6 month ago? Clearly you were

If having a debate about ground funding is baiting maybe I have the wrong idea of a forum. Its' a subject you have brought on the Cas forum before. I believed both our and Castleford futures where linked regarding the new grounds. It seems thanks to Ted mismanagement we've snatched defeat from the hands of victory and handed it on a plate to our neighbours.
Just who exactly says I'm deserting my club, that's just your assumption. I've been here in the darks days of the 80 and 90s when we were struggling in the lower division not that I have to justify the loyalty I've shown over the years to the likes of you.
Just face it, your all mad at me cos I've been knocking your hero Ted. I just say what I think and I made a reasonable statement regarding our future and I'll say it again, the damage has been done and it's irreparable.
Of course you no doubt would be happy if this forum went back to been a Richardson Fan club forum. When Cas put 50 plus past us next week, then you'll see what legacy Ted's and family have left at the club!

If the RFL/SL really wanted us out we would have been gone years ago. They had the perfect opportunity with the salary cap breach points deduction. We need to cut out the persecution complex and concentrate on getting our own house in order.

It cannot be denied that you have a top notch community team and people doing excellent work in that area. The only issue I would take is that you are far from alone in this area. Most clubs have excellent community teams much the same things as Trin.
