Yep - Will do! (although you are shooting yourself down in flames)

and surprise surprise you are wrong again
You're kidding me! icon_biggrin.gifOH:

I've just been on the phone to Sir Rodney, and he agrees that you are right, and so he's calling off the whole project. He asked me to pass on his gratitude for your help though, so he didn't waste any more time, as the experts at Yorkcourt clearly know very little.

Bye then. icon_wave.gif

Not picking sides on this issue, but if I recall correctly when the Salford Stadium was called in it was because our neighbours Manchester city council objected to the development.

It then took 10 months from the call in through the inquiry to the final decision being made.

Oh and by the time the enquiry started Manchester had withdrawn there objections so when the enquiry started there was no objectors but we still had to have the 10 month wait.

i only hope that the people who are objecting are not doing it just to delay everything for selfish reasons

Nothing has been ratified by Central Government.

The next step isAt this moment in time the whole development site is Green Belt.
Sorry allmatt, you are wrong! The Wakefield outline LDF has indeed been ratified by central government. The current consultation on the detailed LDF is totally voluntary by Wakefield MDC. They have no legal requirement to consultant but have chosen to do so, they could have undertaken this phase without ever consulting, but because central government imposed some reasonably strong legal conditions, one being to find 95ha of B8 distribution land on the M62 corridor, they decided it was worthy of local consultation on the proposed details. The detailed LDF has yet to be ratified by central government but the outline is indeed already ratified.

You are correct that the the current UDP, which remains in place until the detailed LDF is also ratified, stays in force and the current site is in currently designated green-belt.

All we have here is lazy journalism, bitter fans & a bloated council trying to show who's the "biggest kid in the playground"; in what ratio is subject to your perspective.
In the opinion of those "clued up" on national politics there is a very slim chance indeed this will be called in.

What I think is key to understanding this from the perspective of a Salford fan is baring in mind the change of government and the subsequent change in thinking, policy and spending this change has induced.
Do you think with the current government your application would have gone to a public inquiry? These cost in excess of £1,000,000; do we have this kind of money anymore?

The vast majority of negative comments that come out on here come from (increasingly) scared Cas fans; who rather than do something productive to their own cause (start a pressure group similar to SWAG) prefer to come on here and shout their mouths off!

Anyways I wish you the best of luck (just as I do to Cas).

Unfortunately mate, it is in the main just that, but they don't want to delay anything, they want to stop the whole thing, including the stadium, that is also just a smoke screen as they understand the economics of the situation! While there is clearly some issues with a minority of Cas supports making nuisances of themselves for reasons of some sort of warped sense of justice, this campaign is being driven by a small bunch of well organised and resourced NIMBY's.

They have very successfully managed to abuse (IMO) peoples trust to solicit wider objection and make the objections look more widespread then they actually are. The people behind this live on Newmarket Lane and have used two faux groups, Wakefield (& Leeds) Community Conservation Group and Wakefield Angry Residents (W.A.R) to give their objections a (false) sense of credibility and have even managed to rope in existing and credible groups, such as Methley Residents Association, to help fight their corner. They realised very early on that the objection from the Wakefield District was actually very low, so concentrated their efforts and campaign on Leeds City Council and Alec Shelbrooke MP for Elmet & Rothwell. Just short of 70% of all objections (most from Leeds) came from outside of the district and objections from within the actual ward of Stanley are from less than 50 addresses.

I'd be worrying about keeping my own house in order if I were you, what with your very own tax bill winging it's way to Headingley any day now.

Don't reserve your place in the new south stand just yet kidder. icon_wink.gif

Its amazing (well, it isn't actually ...) how many away fans want Newmarket to fail, yet moan about the state of Belle Vue.

Make your mind up, and all that! icon_neutral.gif

Green eyed monsters mate. Nothing more, nothing less.
They're only going to increase in number and volume the further we progress.

You know you've hit a nerve when your getting slated on the Guardian's website (eh AI and Kinley Cat).
Really sad indeed.

Careful mate, don't get drawn into having a go at Leeds Rhinos about the HMRC issue because of one poster. Rumour has it Leeds are leading the way on taking on the HMRC for the whole of Super League, ok, they will probably have one of the bigger bills to pay so it is probably worth the effort, but it's Leeds who are pushing and paying the legal bills for a game wide resolution and could get Wakefield some of it's money back!

TBH I was enraged when I read the slur on the Guardians web page, these people find it so hard to believe that citizens genuinely love their city and want it to prosper, for me that says a lot more about them than it does about us.

FWIW I think this process has brought to the surface the best and worst our city has to offer.

On one hand we have people like Klav, TRB and Al who have worked tirelessly to move this project forward and keep it at the front of the minds of our politicians and councillors. Not to forget AI; who has brought unbiased and well balanced information into the public domain and aided us mere layman's to understand the complexities of planning issues. Not to mention showing us that "rivalries" are best left on the terraces in order for the game to progress!
I for one think the city as a whole owes each of you a big "thank you" when this process comes to an end.

And on the other we have rival fans (some from Wakefield) and NIMBY's who have sought to derail this process at every opportunity in order to advance their own agenda's. Using tactics of slander, misinterpretation or bare faced lies in order to scare the general pubic. Look no further than the 2 "phoney" groups built to "protect our interests". Although I have to admit in my case what hurts the most are RL fans from within our district (non WT fans) who actively seek to poo poo this development at every opportunity. If I had so much hatred for the place I lived I'd move, not carry on paying my rates and moaning via the internet. Sad acts!
