| For all the criticism of the Club's management with respect to attendance I am at a loss to see what more it could do. It has assembled one of, if not the most innovative and hard-working community teams who have tried everything they can to increase interest in watching the team with a sound approach. The vast majority of the thousands of people who must have made one off visits (at subsidised prices) to see the range of additional spectacles (x-factor acts etc) have simply not come back. The elite game is at the top of an ever weakening pyramid in terms of rugby league in the City as fewer people than say 20years ago are involved in the amateur game.
But by far the biggets issue is the fact that the majority of the City's population could not give a fig about WTWRLFC and professional rugby league. I think general malaise is far more of an issue than £20 entry.
Not much point coming on this forum and moaning about numbers turning up to this game and that. It is the people on here who do go to the games on the whole. It is the wider public who need shaking up and that is not going to happen without you know what.

Lets give one a two a go to find out if they have potential.

| I though the same re the crowd, I was dissapointed that the crowd wasnt larger for him, although of us that were there what an emotional send off for jas
A text on radio leeds for me further hightlighted what an utter legend the guy has being for us,
Unlike all previous players for trin in recent years who've turned up as nobodys then hit form and made a name for them selfs (ellis/brough/poaching/atkins/westwood to name a few) then being offered big money by the likes of leeds/wire/wigan have left without a thought,
Jason stayed with us when the oppoutunity was there for him to leave,
For me JD is the biggest legend of trinity in the SL era bar none

| To say that its a poor attendance and call people like me "so called supporters" is totally unfair tbh.
I feel the attendance was actually good considering the string of, lets face it, performances. People can say, oh it was JD's last match at Belle Vue, and yes i will thank him for his effort in the years he has been here, but lets face it to think people are going to turn out for just that reason is stupid.
And for what its worth, ive supported wakefield all my life and yes ive seen the relagation battles, play offs etc, and i have to say this team and the performances from this team are arguably worse than the ones from the teams of 2001, 2002 etc, because the sad thing is weve seen this team, even without brough, tronc and Newton can play with performances like Hull Fc at home and Quins at Home.
I will be back next season, with a season ticket and most of all hope. As for this season its finished and the pre season already looks bleak.
Btw, this is my first post on here, so take it easy

Brough was already a Challenge Cup winner when we had him, and he already had a big name in Rugby League, its just that some teams didnt want to touch him with a barge pole or already had players in that position. He hardly made his name at Wakey.

| Quote: GET EM ON SIDE REF "Why not did Hull FC fans walk away last season Do HKR back their team to the hilt Cas have had 2 relegations and they still average more than Wakefield. Maybe the fact is the City of Wakefield do not deserve a SL team, The Wakefield public don’t appear to care one way or the other.
And for the record imwakefieldtillidie I will buy 2 gold season tickets for next season I have missed more games than I wanted to this season due to being away from home with work that situation has now changed
I have said in the heat of the moment that’s it no more over and over again, this season has being lousy but I can’t walk away
I will be at Bradford and on holiday for Salford
I am far from happy with how Ted and his hangers on run the club. I would love to know who the idiot was that set the match day entry fee at £20.
I am far from happy with on field performance
But now is not the time to take our bat and ball home'"
So you realise that some people cannot attend every single game.....
Hull have more fans than Wakey ever will have.
HKR have more fans than Wakey do.
Cas fans have prob seen their team win more than we have over the last five or six years or so, (partly helped by winning NL1 games - but winning is winning, and draws in fans). They traditionally have higher attendances than Wakey anyway.
What you serve up on the pitch is crucial, you could play out of a golden palace but if you watching crud on the pitch you end up not wanting to turn up. Team/performance next season is important or attendances will stay low.

if that was the case and wakey hadnt have taken him on where do you think he's have being playing? he would have ended up in the championship,
Ricky Bibey won a CC medal, as have many otheres, a medal doesnt make you a great player
Brough came back to us as some one with potential, he left us as one of, if not the best british half in the game, regardless of that though......
When he was offered better money in what ever form, he left
JD did not

He would have found somewhere. You say Bibey won a CC medal, but he wasn't an influential player in the Final as Brough was. Brough had more than potential, he was still a player that Sky Sports raved about when he was having a good game.
I'm not saying that JD didnt have a different approach, just that Brough had a higher reputation before he came.

Maybe, but ours seem to be dropping at pretty much the same rate as yours. In these financially tight times people will prioritise where they splash their cash especially leisure-wise as demonstrated by a feeble 8k at the Jungle on Friday...for the price of admission you could buy a good few pints in a pub showing the game live. At the very least punters demand value for money but very rarely get it from either of our clubs at the moment. If the quality of the teams we are putting out continues to deteriorate next season even the unmentionable merger wouldn't help because we couldn't raise a decent side between us.

the point i'm trying to make is that JD didnt take the money, he stayed to fight for the trin cause, if you dont like me using brough as an example there are plenty of other players I could name
The bottom line is no one else of JDs ability has stayed when a bigger club has come knocking

I agree with that, don't get me wrong I don't respect what Brough did - I would much prefer more people were loyal like JD has been. I agreed with the other names you named as being nothing much before their Wakey days, we have severely contributed to their career progression.

Really? Which clubs?
I'd rather have done as Ellis, Westwood and Poching did, and Atkins may do in a fortnight - leaving for bigger, more professionally run clubs to win trophies than stay with little hope of that if I was a player.
Loyalty is very over-rated.

| Quote: GET EM ON SIDE REF "5500 for Jds last ever home game
All I will say is there are fans and then there are supporters the supporters may moan and groan I have a lot this season but at least I get off my backside and make the effort.
5500 just about sums up the fickle bunch that are the Wakefield public
I think the word 'apathy' sums up the people of Wakefield nicely (absence or suppression of passion, emotion, or excitement or lack of interest in or concern for things that others find moving or exciting.)
We're also good at blo*dy moaning too. Members of the public have already slagged off the new Bull Ring, Hepworth Gallery and even the sodding road near the new Trinity Walk development - it's too sharp the corner. Well here's a solution - slow down!
I'm afraid people of Wakefield like to get p*ssed, grab a kebab or watch sport on the TV (in a pub) rather than support something local (rugby union, football club etc etc.)
I've dreaded going to games this season but I always tell myself after another defeat that it's going to get better next week!
I already can't wait for this campaign to finish and get stuck into the next one.
Shame JD didn't have more to see him off but 5500 at the end of a poor season for the club is actually better that I anticipated.
