Nail on the head! Kear built a good team, which is all the more frustrating. We were playing some brilliant rugby but i don't think you can blame him for Brough, Newton and Tronc leaving. Cooke is a stop gap in my opinion and whilst not ideal, i'd suggest it would be hard to find a quality halve at this point in the season.

I think Turfed summed it up best though, we have an average squad now, but what we can't accept as a fan is a lack of motivation and work ethic. It's not all the players, but we need it addressing asap and it's upto the coach to instill it within the players.

That said sacking Kear isn't the option imo

I'm not much of a statto, but I'll wager that his win to game ratio at wakey is better than any other SL coach with a comparable salary cap spend, and better than a lot with higher spend!!!
That to me makes him a quality coach and asset to our club.
Where he is, in my mind up for some slinging is the disasterous decision re : broughy!!
The money this club has trousered this season needs to be spent on a suitable brough replacement, because we are in great need.

People say we have been left with an average squad following the departures, but on paper the squad we have is better than Harlequins yet they can score points and good rugby league trys as well

Some blame for the current boring tactics have to go to the coaching staff

People seem to be forgetting, that Kear is part of the football committee that sanction comings and goings.
The players we have are Kears.
Kear signed the likes of Johnson, extended Demetrious contract, thought Obst was worthy of a quota spot, brought back Ben Jeffries, thought Paul Cooke would replace Brough.
Kear coaches the team,Kear should be motivating the team.
Kear is the man responsible, whether people like it or not,for our on the field performances. The book stops with him and at this moment that book should be thrown at him.

Nope got a season ticket, If i hadn't however, id be hard pushed to shell out 20 quid to watch a bore fest.

Even when we won 5/6 games a season we tried/did play some exciting stuff you had poching, solo pushing the offloads. Had full length trys from wingers etc, this is just awful, and it needs to CHANGE !!!

'Just a blip,' they said, 'let him play himself back into form.'

Sorry, but Demetriou is a passenger in that side...moreso than when he moved out on the centre because he'd lost his pace. This is a season too far and it's sad to see his playing legacy erode by the week.

Agreed, deregister him, allow him to run on water, get his testimonial and then work with the kids and develop correct attiduted, free up some valuable cap money and get someone who wan play in their own position properly

I hear what you say about Kear and he has done IN THE PAST an admirable job with limited resources at Wakey. But there is no room for sentiment,at what point do you think enough is enough?I think now, when the players exhibit a lack of desire or motivation and the coach has run out of tactical ideas.

I disagree, it's not widespread but some of our players aren't prepared to graft and suck it up in defence. Maybe it's composure or their mental attitude but it seems we have a defeatisted attitude and our heads go down far too easily.

In attack we didn't support the man, we lacked any runners. Maybe that's coaching, but i think that's lazy and whenever you watch the likes of Hudds or Wigan they work alot harder for one another. Maybe it's their conditioning i'm unsure

IMO alot of the problems we have are fairly basic rugby league skills :

1. Move up in a line in defence - not 2 m and stand waiting for the opposition
2. Support the ball carrier
3. Take the ball to the line Draw a man and then pass the ball rather than just along the line
4. stand square at the play the ball (how many times did we get penalised for that tonight)

The players we have should be able to put these basic skills into practice and if they aren't the coaching staff should address the issues.

The basic skills are not being executed and the blame for this lies as much with the coaching staff as the players

Quote: Prince Buster "Well your miles out mate. we got a great deal with Brough and he had to go,the trouble is like I have said everywhere else we replaced him with a stiff (Cooke).
We also need an hooker by the way.'"

If we got around £150k for Atkins when he had (I think) 3 years left on his contract, then anything in excess of £50k would represent very good value for Brough approaching the end of his contract.

Given that Hudds could have signed Brough for nothing at the end of the season (and they weren't exactly short of options at half-back) I'd be worried if I was a Hudds fan and found that anything near £50k had been paid as a fee to Wakey.

As a shareholder I will certainly be asking for answers on this.
