He came back last year for a visit, (his daughters wedding), still living in the early eighties in his head though.... As you say a mad wakey fan as was his dad.

Chuck in Dexy's midnight run-aways and you'd have my nightmare scenario in one!

But im a 70's rocker you haven't live if you haven't see Bands like Rainbow & Especially Scorpions
We booked Scorpions to play Wakey Tech on their first-ever British Tour, think it was 1977. Turned up with all their gear in a juggernaut lorry, we were used to bands turning-up in a transit!
They insisted that someone had to go on stage and introduce them and I drew the short-straw, was really egging it!.
Brilliant gig, they enjoyed it so much that for their second British tour they rang us up to ask if they could play Wakey again!

| Quote: Slugger McBatt "The Specials changed the course of my life (they blew me away on Rock Goes To College, which got me into the mod/ska thing, which got me into a certain group of friends, etc). No other band did that. Saw them in 1980 at Bridlington Spa. Will be at the Manchester gig on 4th May, and giddy about it, but worried it will shatter my memories.
A sign of ageing: upon realising that I couldn't get a ticket for the standing/dancing area and had to sit down, I thought "oh well, at least I'll have somewhere to put my programme."
Be prepared to pay £10 for said programme, chum. £45 for a hoodie.

yeah i thought same about the pistols reunion.
but at least pistols always said they did it for the cash!
we are assuming the specials fans who have had a go at madness for selling out are now strangly silent?

Yeah, saw The Damned at the Unity Hall at least four times between '79 and '81. Great days.
