What a great night!!
Our boys were physical in contact, worked as a unit and the sliding defence impressive. It may have seemed boring at times and a little 1 out rugby but after the 1st 20mins of slippery rugby it was clear we needed to complete sets and get our kick away. Then as we got the field position we stretched them and utilised our short kicking game which surely has to be the best in SL.
I was impressed with the defence as a whole. Wingers and full backs work rate in clearing our lines, looking for work all the time and covering hits. Our forwards made hard yards up the field and made it extremely tough for them to clear their lines with some solid tackles. Our backs worked hard dictating play and as already said short kicked them to death. Scullys pass was 1st class.
It may just be me but i think fitness was a massive key! They looked tired and we exploited this scoring many points in the 2nd half. Someone may be stronger than you in the 1st, 2nd or 3rd hit but as you tire the fitter you are means you'll be able to be stronger till the end. Credit to Colin and team for this, the hills etc are paying dividends!!
