Turned to my Dad after the first 15 minutes and said I didn't think Atoni had carried the ball yet. And we couldn't remember when he had. It was odd. Proctor was busy in defence but again, didn't seem to carry the ball many times. I could be wrong. I hope they improve. Atoni looked decent in a couple of the friendlies so hopefully just an off day.

Without sounding pedantic Lyne was at fault for Johnstones 2nd try. He didn’t even compete for that ball, just stood there with his arms out to catch the ball while Johnstone jumped above him and collected the ball. The whole team simply need to be better at defending kicks on that showing.

Agree that some players seem to be blamed for mistakes more than others who make similar mistakes. Hardly anything said in any forum about the Murphy howler. Imagine the hysterical condemnation if that had been Lineham .

More excellent play from Davies than howler from Murphy. 98% of the time we get a set restart on the 20. Either way it shouldn’t of happened. I thought our back 5 took the ball up really well, took a lot of pressure of a fatigued looking pack at times.

You make my point really. Again if it had been Lineham there would not be any talk if excellent play by Davies, just criticism of Lineham.

I think anyone with a fair judgment wouldn’t. People will always have scape goats etc. I personally thought Lineham carried the ball strong and had the best pre season of all our 4 wingers.

Just watched the game back in full, we've got to be better than that but on another day we win that game. A fair number of the tries scored by Catalans were on the back of very silly errors with the final try been the cherry on top.

He gave them field position with his mistake. We still had an opportunity to defend, hard though that made it.
The mistakes by Murphy and Smith led directly to tries.

It's a team game and the team holds responsibility subility so none need to be blamed, but if you are trying to pick one out, it isn't Lyne

Sorry but we will agree to disagree on this. We were coming on strong and Catalans were well on the back foot on their line. It’s not just about territory but the momentum. It was with us at that point with 6 tackles on the line and all the pressure. We never got that pressure or field position back from that point. It was the momentum and game changer which started our poor spell.

The other ones weren’t good either.

It was an error from Murphy, he should've shielded the ball better or gone for the safe option and taken the ball out himself. He's a kid only in his second season, Lineham is an experienced pro who not should be making those mistakes.

Not sure what the new pitch cost but in my opinion it was a waste of money the playing surface was the only good thing about BV
Surely the money would have been better spent retaining the likes of Batch or another halfback
If not banked to fund further much needed development on the west side
