Dagger would be back kicking on Friday for me. He wasn’t missing hardly any even from sidelines.'"
Up until he went off early at Shudds I think he'd kicked 15 in a row.

| Quote: Prince Buster "Salford have selected a very strong squad. In my opinion everyone of their 1 to 7 is better than everyone our equivalent players. Will need to be a massive improvement to get a win out of this game. It could also be a very long night and our points difference could be increased significantly. Hope I am wrong but the bookies giving us 14 start think we have little chance.'"
Salford are a decent side.
However, since we beat them at BV they have only won one game (verses 12 man Shudds), last week.
We still need to have our "best game" and hope that they have an off night.
With Saints, Catalan and then Leigh to come after this one, we simply have to win.
This is already the "night cap" after the last chance saloon.
Hoping for a miracle but, expecting the trap doo to open a little wider.

We're not beating Salford. We've had our purple patch and it's back to the standard we have shown for the majority of the season. For all his effort Lino hinders the attack, he will still be picked regardless. Proctor should be nowhere near the squad after last week's 'efforts'. Bowes should be playing too.
Hopefully Eseh replaces Proctor, Pitts moves to loose, Griffin to second row, he got caught out a few timesat centre against Cas. The rest will likely be as they were against Cas rightly or wrongly.

| Betfred only offering 1/5 for a Salford win. £50 to win a tenner! Is it really that certain?

With the fixtures that we have left, the opposition being 1/5 is probably as close as we have to "a fighting chance".
It's like clinging on to the last fibre of a rope that is breaking.
Yeah, we're going to fall but, you cant let go.

They were ruthless against Huddersfield and we lost to Castleford. I'd imagine 1/5 is a fair price, judging how our season has gone. That said I'll probably have a couple of quid on Wakefield.

| Well surprised after 3 try’s in reserves that Kershaw didn’t get a nod and was thinking Salabio may get a run after a try in reserves. I was hoping to watch the reserves game to see how a few went but it’s not on trinity tv yet.
Anyway looking at the squad I think I’d go with a strong starting big pack (Salford aren’t the biggest up the middle) and make a couple of changes out wide for extra mobility in defence as Salford will throw it out wide and try work our edges. Griffin went great guns in attack but a few times in defence got caught out so I’d put him in SR where he can still run at edges but can defend where he’s recently been used to in terms of position.
Jowitt
Senior
Croft
Lyne
Franco
Dagger
Gale
Fifita
Hood
Atoni
Ashurst
Griffin
Whitbread
Kay
Bowden
Eseh

| I feel with this one we are in must win territory. Yes Salford are a decent team but they've been out of form up until last week and with 3 of the top 4 sides to follow it's vital we get the points in this one.

After watching the game again on Trinity TV i disagree. Linos defence alone should see him in the team. I would have him kicking goals as well.
We dont need wholesale changes, we made enough chances against Cas to score 30 odd points. Our 1-5 just need to be much slicker with the ball.

After watching the game on trinity tv I have to disagree. Miller targeted the right edge and engaged Lino amongst others which left us stretched on numerous ocassions.
Added the loss in direction on a couple of sets and imo poor field kicking which predictably went high into corner Im not keen.
Lino is full of effort and that’s great but as I’ve said for years. I still remain to be convinced by him. He’s played with Dagger, Kay, Smith, Langi and now Gale as his partner and only had 1 good game (even Gale completely ran the show). Dagger would bring more balance at 6 I feel and less predictability.
Jowitt ran some great lines around the edges in the first half and was very good in attack. For some reason it wasn’t quite as effective second half.
2 - 5 do need to be better more so in defence. Hence why Croft comes back in (didn’t concede a try when he played centre for 4 games!!) and Franco comes back in.
Lyne was poor in defence more in his positioning and shooting out of the line. But we only have him and Croft so he stays in. Unless Croft and Griffin play centres.
We need to change things up though.

| Re above Trojan
I agree give Franco a game. In my opinion we should clip the flying pigs wings and put Franco on his wing.

Personally I think Lineham has been solid for a good string of games now. Vs Cas thought it wasn’t great and that right edge of Lino > Lyne > Lineham had a mare. Changes with Dagger and Franco could help but even though I left Lyne in he’s lucky and needs to do better in defence with his decision making. After watching Lyne for years though that’s always been his greatest pitfall in defensive reads and positioning. Now he’s lost that extra yard of pace it’s harder to hide these days.
Lineham made a big error yes and due to that Franco comes in but I won’t hang Lineham out to dry as Lyne and the inside defenders were more to blame with Miller engaging them leaving a lot of space exploited on the edge.

| I think that right wing was badly let down by the back row on that side. Nobody slides that way in the tries scored. We are struggling without a recognised right edge back rower with Tanginoa out, Proctor can play well there, but 20 minutes a game is no use to us. Does Griffin play on the right, i think he has usually played left side?

Pitts is right edge but I think the errors are between the halfback and centre in defence which is why Cas targeted them constantly.
Tanginoa is originally a left second row. Nearly all his best performances come left second row. His best form was in left SR on arrival and then covering back in left SR when Ashurst was injured.
We stick him at right and tried to play him there because Ashurst if fit will always start and play pending the apocalypse (that is no slight to Ashurst who’s been solid).
