The result is about as relevant as beating Leeds on Boxing Day but oddly it never works like that way round.
We don’t have a low quality team but we do have some low quality supporters- sorry if I get in trouble for saying that but it’s the truth. They won’t be happy till we are losing to Whitehaven'"

Hull have always had good players that for some reason have underperformed. I reckon Smith could be the one that finally changes that. Not saying they'll win it, but I'd expect top 4/5.

| Here's a Hull fans take on the result taken from TotalRL Forum:
"As you might expect, I’m not getting carried away, only 3 likely starters in Wakey’s line up v a strong Hull team."
About sums it up but a pretty joyless afternoon for Wakey fans non the less. It did save me posting updates though.

| Whilst the result was obviously disappointing (that was always going to be the case with that squad), there were one or two positives we can take from today...the sun was shining, the East stand looks better every week and beer sales were clearly very good

| positives for me were young Law, seen him a few times now and I think he will make it as a good SL player. I also liked that little curly haired hooker, Harvey Smith. Thought he looked very lively and could have good potential.

| Well I didn't expect anything but a loss looking at the squads put out. I must admit I was disappointed with the gulf in teams and expected us to put a stronger team out.
That said I managed to see the up and coming players young an inexperienced. They tried their best and there were a few nice touches. The reality though was Hull were too big too fast and too strong.
Those young lads making their first team debut and facing up should be proud regardless of the scoreline.
Now with more reflection I get we need to manage our squad correctly. We could have put a strong team out and risked injuries in what is in essence a meaningless game.
As for Hull they looked pretty good but hard to measure against the strength of the team we put out. I agree up the middle we did pretty well but the Hull kicking game was excellent ours was average. They exploited our flanks with some pinpoint kicks and moving the ball outwide quickly

Any way you look at it. You’ll feel aggrieved spending cash for a whitewash. Maybe go into the season on a good note rather than a memory of a hammering. Possibly poor planning. Hopefully the coaches got some value.

Stop it Cosmic. It's getting boring.
If you are only here to wind people up you might as well post somewhere else.

| As a game it was a bit worthless to us but then it's just a tune up game so individual performance is what matters
Battye looks like he's looking to be the best prop at the club. I've liked him in every game.
Kershaw is right back to his best. He and Murphy are first choice wingers to me.
Hall looked classy when put back to centre.
None of the kids in the backs really impressed, without being disrespectful, as they need more time, but a couple of the forwards went pretty well I thought.
Proctor did what he needed to but was flanked by a couple of weaker defenders so difficult to judge.

You've had your warning. Deal with it as you see fit.
To be clear I'm speaking as a mod now, not someone who posts as a fan.

| One of the reasons we might of rested/not picked players today was the new HIA protocol.
It’s just been changed from 11 to 12 days.
The rule came out last week with a bunch of other rules.
Trinity already had FC game arranged and any head concussions would have resulted in players missing the opener against Catalan..
I thought the young lads put lots of effort in against a strong FC team Harvey smith got man of the match which was well deserved… very lively player….
Everyone has now had game time with our forwards getting some more minutes in, in what will be another tough season.
There were no injuries from what I could see, and with, Hood tanganoa injured and Bowden and Bowes not played since Boxing Day why add to our problems with 12 days before the season starts…
As for FC I thought they looked good .. once they’d worked out our weaknesses they set about us down the sides… they will get more enjoyment and game time from Clifford this season than they got from the over paid half Reynolds …

| I feel compelled to reply to the overreaction by some on here. It’s only a friendly! Nothing is won in preseason.
Plus by my reckoning there was 5 ish u18s in the squad. And a handful of reserve team players too who are all getting their toes wet at that level. They will all be better off for this experience, and congratulations to them. Against a strong FC side too. Plus apparently Harvey Smith went really well at 9 which may be a positive early indicator about his potential, which Applegarth would have never known about if he didn’t play today. Some real short sighted overeactions flying around after this result.
