| Quote: Trojan Horse "He took the line on a few times and helped clean up a few last tackle back plays. Set up a few. It was a good performance from John.
We just need to get both halfbacks firing. I think there is something in the smith /John partnership and it should be persisted with a while yet.
It's hooker where I would like to see a change and prop/ bodies permitting.
Ellis/ wildie - hooker.
Amor, Johnson to start... Wilkes/ raleigh to interchange.
Southern at prop is not doing any favours to the team despite him probably putting his hand up which Is commendable.
If anything southern looks like he needs a week off and that would benefit him greatly.
Mathers
Fox
Walshaw
Mellars
Cockayne
John
Smith
Amor
Ellis
Johnson
Kirmond
Lauititi
Washbrook
Wildie
Wilkes
Raleigh
Moriano/trout
I'm against wholesale changes but think these would benefit the team.
Walshaw at centre (Atkins centre) could be a good use of walshaws strong tackling.
Would like to see wildie get a bash on last weeks u20 performance while I feel wood was really targeted well by hudds in defence.'"
Whilst I like the look of this side, I would be a little concerned with Walshaw opposite Atkins. Following his progress in the reserves I believe his lack of positional sense could leave him exposed. I agree Walshaw is big and strong and if Atkins is stupid enough to run straight at Walshaw I would back Walshaw every time, but he is not and Atkins has developed well as a centre and has good feet before collision which I (IMO) could cause Walshaw problems (I hope I would be wrong if he did play opposite him though).
I would also like to see young Slater thrown in the mix of players, in the reserves he is showing that he has a big engine with good defensive attributes. We are scoring points but unfortunately we are letting more in and thats got to stop. Slater has good tackle technique from initial contact to controlling the tackle to ground slowing down the PTB.
Overall I think we as supporters need to be patient with this team, there is too much talent for it not to eventually click. Dont forget we have had as many new faces as Widnes yet everyone seems to be giving them time to develop. Once they get used to each others style of play, I am sure we will be seeing some great results.
It would be nice though to pick up a few wins along the way though and send us home happy and that not just being from the beer

| We can field who we like, we won't beat Wire at their place when they are fresh from a loss, and let's face it, not many teams would. For me, it's the home game against Catalan, and the London and Cas games where we should be hoping to pick up points. If we come out of Easter without a win, and that is possible if we blow the Cas game (because what do you bet that London start to come good), it is looking very grim for us.
I can live with the fact that things aren't gelling yet, but what is frustrating is that the problems are what we have been saying all along: no grunt up front and no goal kicker. That comes down to bad recruitment. What worries me is that some of the teams around us have started to show some form over a few games, and all we have shown is a good second half at Widnes.

| atkins is big and strong, and gets many more chances at warrington than he did at wakefield once we lost solomona. i was really dissapointed with him against leeds at the weekend, he seems easy to steer towards the touchline, from where he usually flings the ball in field wildly.

I know this won't be at all comforting, but these were all staples of Agar's tenure at Hull. And if he remains consistent with his selection policy during his time with us, I don't see the latter point happening any time soon. I don't think he ever made an unforced change to the team lineup in all 4 years.
With the points about Smith/Raleigh/Washbrook I'd therefore try not to be too damning of them individually. The same faults were true of multiple players for us, some of whom have been seen to do better, so it really does seem to be a coaching issue (although when with us all Agar ever used to spout in post match interviews was that players had gone away from the gameplan, which becomes hard to swallow when the performances are consistently of the same nature but they retain their places).

| Wait until he starts to make an interchange 2 mins before the half finishes, that used to really wind me as much as his interchanges used to puzzle the whole crowd.
As for giving returning players a run out in the U20's, not a chance they will go straight back in as long as they are Agar's friends 17.
Feel for you fans, I really do.

It was well documented about the prop and kicker nobody was available whom the club saw in their plans, yes we are suffering but I would rather suffer and see us how we are than just signing players for the sake of it, now we have no financila issues we dont want to become an easy target for players who do not fit the patterns or are looking for an easy pay day.

For the prop I think signing up Dowes would have been a decent move. Seems Agar preferred to mess him about for some reason, though.

As baffling as it all is, and as unpopular as he is just for being here really, one thing is unquestionable.
We are playing pretty good, entertaining rugby, some of it is dumb rugby but thats down to the players trying to take too big a risk at the wrong time or the result of a unforced error.
So we aren't on the Black and White Bandwaggon yet!!!!

Give it time.
Seriously though, a fair few Hull fans (myself included) went through the 'it's the players' fault' stage (and I'm not for one minute saying they were/are completely absolved from any blame). When you see different groups of players with the same faults over a longer term, and also see what some of the players do under different coaches, however, the key common denominator becomes more apparent.

Perhaps, but that has yet to happen here, its only five games with a bunch of players that have never played together before and some who have played little first grade.
If your argument is still holding water at the end of the season, and it could be, fair enough. Until then it looks like sour grapes and makes (some) Hull fans look stupid.
If however it isn't the case and we are all happy bunny's over here, and FC are still no better off without Agar, i will await the avalanche of humble pie munching black and whites heading in land with their tail's between their legs, begging for forgiveness.
Cheap shots being taken, by faceless, classless babies in my humblest of humble opinions.
Over here we have long memories!

Agar stated on Yorkshire Radio last week that they were looking for a proven goal kicker to sign and looking at options to bring in a prop (Richard Moore ). So fingers crossed as WTW need to start winning games whatever the diehard fans say and there is a lack of depth to the squad of players ready for week in week out super league covering those 2 roles so I don't think it would be a waste of money.
On the positive side - Amor is back and with Raleigh should start.
In the meantime I think AGAR has to show his worth as a coach and give an opportunity to a young squad member who can goal kick goals and look at finding them an appropriate position in the team. If Walshaw is not a centre then Cockayne to replace Mellars and Grayshon to wing? Agar would be praised for giving youth an opportunity and trying to temporarily solve the serious lack of a goal kicker.
There is nothing to lose against a team like Warrington and it would be good preparation for the other games we have more of a chance of winning. Also rest players that are carrying knocks and blood other squad players (Walshaw,Mariano,Ellis,James) as well, thats done in other sports to good effect.
