Is that the game where he scored 4 tries for Wigan? He got dropped after that game and never featured in the first team again if I remember right!

for my money JDs defence is not great never was sorry

| It's Cas at home, and it's JK'S job to pick the best team to beat them on the day, Don't think sentiment or past form should come into it, purely on current form my team would be....
Murphy (been our best FB this season - yes i do rate Matty)
Blanch (Still finding form - but former Cas player and very little options)
George (Natural Centre not winger - played very well there on Boxing Day)
Millard
Morton (outside a centre that is slightly better at tackling than Glees)
Cooke (Based on BJ being injured)
Obst - no other options.
Tronc
Davey (always need 2 hookers)
Moore
Hendo
Kirmond (if Fergy isn't fit)
Tesco
Korki
Gledhill/King - JK to call dependant on Kings fitness/attitude.
Latu
JD
JK will know that it's important we get the two points as Monday's game will be extremley hard. And obviously his team selection will be dependant on his veiw of Monday's game. I would expect Trouty to get a run soon if Mrs Tronc get's her way.
Just MHO.

| "why play southernwood who seems to be destined elsewhere if the earlier thread is true against cas? a local derby, you might as well just put a target on him ! couldn't make friday so can't comment but who was the centre inside blanchey please?"
Fair comment crowt on both parts - Gleesons defence is poor; but i did go to the game and Blanch missed a lot of one on one tackles (for some reason he goes high with his arms and gets handed off - as everyone gets told not to do when there kids) i don't want to be part of a witch hunt as the guy has a lot of plusses but based on Friday he should be dropped IMO.
Gleeson needs to do better; clearly opposition coaches are targetting this channel now that they have video of us struggling. Even with some excellent covering tackles off Morrision, it was too easy for Wire on this flank (as it was Hudds).
Re Southernwood - i agree cas is not ideal. But everyone i talked to in the walk back to the cars said on the night it looked like we had no half backs (even though obst Cooke and latu featured) we need to find a genuine scrum half to replace Broughy and now we are franchise and shouldn;'t be thinking short term - i would like to see Southernwood playing. For me Obst is a hooker.

Not sure what it is you are trying to say here as one paragraph contradicts the other. This season Cain southernwood has not quite come to terms with playing in the under 20s just yet, he is doing alright but as yet has not done anything stand out to even think about stepping up, unless its to include him in the 19 for the big match atmosphere, and to throw him in at the proverbial deep end imo might just shatter his confidence. And fwiw I think JK is thinking long term regarding him as a scrum half assuming the club can keep hold of him.

Murphy (been our best FB this season - yes i do rate Matty) There's no reason to replace Blaymire, He's getting better and better with each match after his injury lay off.
Blanch (Still finding form - but former Cas player and very little options)
George (Natural Centre not winger - played very well there on Boxing Day) Needs Time to find his form after injury so it's too much to ask him to come back as a centre when he's played all his SL career almost exclusively as a winger. Murphy in for Gleeson.
Millard
Morton (outside a centre that is slightly better at tackling than Glees) George although I would have no problem with Morton except the need to rest him.
Cooke (Based on BJ being injured)
Obst - no other options.
Tronc

Latu
JD If Fergie's fit then Kirmond to the bench ad no place for JD

| Can see your argument, and as I say it's just my opinion. George played centre on boxing day, and until he picked up a knock I thought he looked really good, especially defensively, which is where we need to improve. I don't believe it would be a problem for Luke to play there even if he has spent more time on the wing recently, centre is his natural position. Matty B was excellent last season, and I am a big fan, but so far this season he looks a little slow and off the pace, Murph's was quality early season at FB so on that basis I would put him back there. Wouldn't disagree about JD if Fergy is fit, toiugh to call but not out of the question. Like I say about Gledhill/king, would leave that call to JK, but as you say, Gledhill has done nothing wrong.

| Three games in 8 days is a big ask for any player so I would hazzard a guess that there will be a few suprises as a result of shuffled resources.

and I can see the logic in all of your reasoning, I just think that in view of all the upheaval that the team has gone through in the last four or five weeks we need a settled team with as few changes as possible.
What we desperately need to do is plug the defensive holes in our right centre not least because every coach in the league will highlight that area to attack. Aaron Murphy has been excellent at full-back, wing, centre and even did an adequate job as a second row.
In my opinion he is likely to play centre or full-back in the future and for that reason he deserves to have the first opportunity to make the right centre position his own.

| I understand your reasoning and agree totally about Murph's long term. It's just what I would do for Friday's game.......
But then again, what do I know

Not shocked really, half expected JK to go with experience (not saying I would). Not having Davey in the squad does shock me a little.

| It is good news that BJ is back in contention, well for some of us anyway. Interesting that there is no place for Gledhill, JD and Gleeson to miss out for me.

Would be mine, we need some defence on the right and that is about as good as it can get with what we've got IMO, although I won't hold my breath on JD being rested.
