| Thaiday was awesome in the state of origin games...I doubt he'd want to leave NRL and miss out on the rep games...

Yes they did, Hetherington to this day has never got over that one which explains why he is continually bothering anyone who plays for the mighty Trin.

As for Idris i hope that was a sarcastic comment.'"
Did we once sign Wally Lewis, it's more than possible even if you can't bare the thought.
That said I have heard nothing to suggest it's remotely likely.

I would love to see him at Trinity.
Signing Lewis has nothing to do with same Thaiday. To suggest the circumstances are the same are preposterous as is the chain of thought behind them.
The flaw in the argument is painfully obvious, Lewis signed on a short term contract funded by Barry Hough, also he did not have to give up his rep shirt to do so, his contract was a short term deal, in the Australian off season.
There is now no scope for an outside investor to fund such a move outside the cap and also no scope for him to continue his rep career.
Highlighting the fact you signed Lewis has no connection to this day and age or this move.
Lewis even said in his autobiography that he enjoyed the nature of his spell at Wakefield because it was short lived and he made a great mate in Barry, but he would not wish it to be a long term thing due to the nature of our lifestyle in the UK, so i would not expect him to be having a word in his ear either.

Can't agree that there is no validity in the claims made. The point is, with the right set of circumstances (and I know it may be far-fetched), anything is possible. No-one believe that we could sign Wally at the time - but we did. No-one believed that Ray Price would play again - but he did.
One other point - the cap is irrelevant in this issue as that is the one thing that we still have in our favour - i.e. we have plenty of room left.
I do not expect Sam to be joining us, but I know we are still a couple of players away from completing our squad for next year.

I here 3 a secondrow (not Thaiday) a half and looking at a centre.
The circumstances have to be right, regards Thaiday, and they clearly are not. Many other clubs have loads of money to spend not just Trinity on both sides of the world, given he is a rep rugby player his wages would be into the 200k. Plus.

| As much as I'd like to see it, we are not going to get a 24 year old Aussie star at the top of his game, fresh from the State of Origin. We are either going to land on a player who shows great promise but can't guarantee himself first-team football, or we are going to get someone seeing out their career (someone like Price - 35 years old, but we would still get two good years out of him at Belle Vue, given his physical condition).
Thaiday might fancy English footie, but I doubt it will be with us.
