| I’m not surprised he wants to stay, most clubs have already got full overseas quotas. Maybe if he’d have bent his back a bit more during the first two thirds of the season he’d have had more options.

| I hope Atoni stays . He needed time but stepped up towards the end and should continue to get better.

Exactly, let’s not forget Whitbread was poor and largely anonymous last season for the first half. Atoni moved his family over and probably took some time to adjust and needed a spark like Dave Fifita to make him realise he can actually do some damage down the middle.
He is a unit and if he puts in performances like that second half of season then he will be amongst the best props in the championship. He’s about to hit a props prime years too.
If we can tie down Tanginoa then with Griffin too we will have some punch in the forwards. Be nice to find a quality loose from somewhere.

Once he stopped copying Proctor and followed Fifita's example, he was excellent

Whatever it was that changed he improved out of sight and if he carries on will go very well.

| My worry is, why does someone need to tell a professional sportsman that?
I get the time to settle in though. That's a very real issue for overseas players.
And I think the halfbacks improved so he had some direction to his running.

| I would be happy if we kept Antoni, 2nd half of the season he was pretty good and I think in the championship he could be destructive. His tackling stats were also very good even earlier in the season when he was not really effective with the ball.

You're definately right about the first bit.
I'm not totally convinced on the second part. After the win against Warrington, both Gale and Lino, looked inaffective. The partnership may work in the the championship, but if we do come straight back up to the super league, I'm not convinced on either of them.

| With regard to Atoni let me remind you of Matt King & Pat Richards.
Warrington and Wigan would have happily paid someone to take them away after their first season but from the 2nd season onwards they were brilliant

It can be a culture thing and if Proctor was on a "sightseeing trip", which he certainly was, it can be easy for others to follow.
The whole season seemed odd from the start.
Platers like Hall, who was excellent throughout the previous season, off form and Crowther, who, always, always gave 100% (and still does), pretty much cast aside, when other players were just going through the motions.
Of course, players dont always agree with or, get on with the coach and maybe losing so many decent players to other clubs had an unsettling effect on some who remained ?
Right now, we still seem in limbo, with lots of players finding other clubs.
It will be interesting to see who is still here and just who may be coming in.
Other clubs are already selling season tickets etc and we're going to be a little way behind, which isn't great when we are looking to bounce straight back.

I agree I would steer well clear. Rather have Austin.
I do think we need to bring in a quality halfback for next season though. It’s a position we look lacking in.

We were on the verge of signing Richards until Wigan had a few injuries and the rest is history.
