| Quote: vastman "I do understand where you’re coming from but I honestly don’t think your boy or any of them are ready. Not more than a few first team games between them. I know Senior is hardly a seasoned pro but if you’re honest he’s still a fair way ahead.
Don’t get me wrong, if we looked half decent and we were not knee deep in injuries I’d welcome the youngsters getting a run. However at the moment it’s probably a good thing they don’t even if it doesn’t seem like it.
I hope the above is how CC sees it, sadly I can’t quite get the thought that he’s in panic mode out of my head. As I say I’m convinced it’s not the right time to blood youngsters, I’m less convinced that this lad is quite what we need.
We will see soon enough.'"
I think though your first paragraph is the crux of the problem. Innes Senior (and his twin brother) are a little ahead of players like Croft & Greensmith but why is that? It’s because they got the first team exposure when Huddersfield had injuries. They didn’t go out picking players out of other teams squads, they backed their own and are now reaping the rewards. And lets be honest the Giants were hardly a team at the top of their game then either. Fact is Senior is more advanced but i believe at least a year younger than both Croft & Greensmith. Obviously different players mature at different rates but this is a recurring theme with us and it is a massive bug bear of mine. It’s always the Jowitts, the Crowthers or the Batchelors of the squad that seem to be the fall guys. It’s a coaches easy way out. He’s proved he doesn’t give then runs in the team when things are going well. He’s proved he doesn’t play them when thing are going badly. When is he going to give them a chance?

You are spot on the Seniors,Wardle,Wilson ,Russell,Wood,English,Kirby and Hewitt all have played numerous Super League games due to our injury crisis of last season and the one before. They are all still young men and although we got some pastings it has stood us in good stead moving forward as they can all be called on now to play without any worries about how they are going to perform. The only down side was last season as they were asked to play week in and week out which is no good for lads of their age. I am sure Innes will give you 100% if he is selected he is a good lad. I wish you all the best for the weekend against Catalan I am sure you can put last week behind you and get a result ,Good Luck

| Quote: PopTart "Not sure what the issue is with people thinking he's taking a kids place.
We are so down on numbers that even if Senior plays we'll still be playing Croft.
I see the back line now as
1 Hampshire
2 Senior
3 Atkins
4 Croft
5 Tupou
6 Miller
7 Jowitt
I don't think we have anyone else who could reasonably fill the wing spot with the list we have out.'"
There's Alex Walker too for FB. They seem very good in the air and utilise that well. I've said before about Hampshire being a victim of his own success of being decent in several positions so he could end up anywhere to help the team. However I'd like to see him get a run at 7 when everyone is fit. Max has done a shift at 1,2,6 as well and I'm not sure where he likes the most now. As a former Albert Goldthorpe winner we know he has what it takes. Senior is a decent player and will hopefully help under that high ball.

| If you never play the likes of greensmith you will never know how good they are some dont develop until later in their 20s others like andy farrell could play in any team at 16 its just how they progress and develop but if they are never thrown in the deep end how do you know if they can swim?

Throwing them in the deep end is a sure fire way if killing your kids.
You develop them and bring them in when they are ready.
I like Croft a lot but he needs time develop and occasional games.
Apart from Catalan you wouldn't drop Lyne or Tupou for either of the young ones, especially if it's only to give them a game.

No reason this season for us to do the same

| Greensmith is a centre. I think most people would agree he is behind Atkins and Croft in the pecking order. His time will come. It was a winger we desperately needed due to injuries. Putting Greensmith on the wing would be detrimental to his confidence. Look at Croft when he was played out of position on the right wing, or indeed Atkins first game of the season.
