| TBF to Wildie don't think he's been on DR or loan anywhere so hasn't played since whenever. I stand to be corrected however. Anyway like KK says he should've been on the bench with McShane starting.

| Quote: charlie63wildcat "Absolutely. Real bottle. 6 weeks ago we would have capitulated under Agar and lost 40 pts to 6. Ground out a win when under kosh playing, lets not forget, a GOOD SIDE. Kevin Brown had a great game and caused us all kinds of trouble with his kicks. We were a bit turgid first half and showed superb guts 2nd. Not the flashiest effort bt the one that has really impressed me..maybe the most as it was ground out with guts when not playing the best'"
Spot on. Makes the Agar lovers look a bit foolish.

| Thought the decision to start Wildie was the correct one personally...
Our gameplan seems to be to start safe and steady....keep it tight for 25 minutes or so and then unleash our impact from the bench....it's worked just about every week but we badly missed the impact Godinet has been bringing to the table.....McShane to me was the better option of him and Wildie to continue what we've been doing....
Harsh on Wildie to criticise too much because in the first 20 minutes tonight we were starved of possession and never, ever able to get on the front foot....that only happened a bit when Tautai and Lauititi came on...
Tremendous defensive effort overall though and again a great team effort....we wanted it more you could see.....the other close games we've been involved in of late probably helped us come through and see it out....
Another great 2 points...

| 6 - 7 games ago we would have given in under all the pressure Widnes put us under but not now the belief is there again.

| Denis Betts "they didn't deserve to be in the game" by my reckoning we did since we kept Widnes down to four points

| Dour game, neither team played particularly well with the ball. The commitment in defence is good to see and the overall effort is so much better under Webster that Agar must be embarrassed. A good two point gained but if we want that 8th spot then we need to be sharper from now on in.

| Well done to everyone, they ground out that win tonight. First 25 under the cosh and defended superbly, pretty even until ht when Owen just failed to squeeze in. Second half I thought we lifted our game and 2 or 3 times almost forced the dropout just before our first try. After that I felt we were in control until Mathers' howler then hanging onto what we had until the end. Not the greatest game as others have eluded to but will take a 2pt grafting performance any day.

| Think everyone would have started with McShane but fair play to Webster, he has given Wildie a start to see what he can do.
Godinet out for 6 weeks, think he has enough time to try and prove his worth, if not, then can't say he has not been given a go.
Everybody needs a few games to get back up to speed.

| Hope you guys keep this up and push on to the play offs. Massive chance you will meet us there if you did. Can see us finishing 5th so you getting 8th would make for a massive game at ours. Not sure what your last 7 games looks like but good luck.

| I disagree with some of the comments about Wildie, he did the job that he was asked to do.
He tackled like a demon in that first 20 minutes and he was steady at dummy half. I also
suspect that was all Webster asked him to do and I bet he also has the same role at Les cats.

| Daft comment from Betts - they threw everything they had at us and we defended better than we have in a long long time; a couple of months ago, we'd have conceded 6 tries under that kind of pressure.
Good to see Wildie get a start, but difficult to judge anything more than his defence, as we didn't really have any ball in their half during his spell. Also doesn't help him that McShane came on and gave his best performance of the season in the second half - he ran that game and showed his experience; we actually managed a game!
Smith was quiet in the first half but came to life in the second; he's found a kicking game that for me, was one of his weaknesses when he was with us the last time around; we absolutely *have* to get him signed on for next year.
Keinhorst, Lyne, Owen and Riley were strong and Ryan did his usual hard shift; and great to see Big Ali back on the field and dragging 4 defenders with him on every run.
Overall, a game we probably needed; now we know we can tough it out when we're under the cosh and we can defend when we have to with some structure and discipline, and some key players missing. It's fantastic to see the spirit amongst the players - haven't seen that all season so far, so new coach syndrome is obviously working. It was also great to hear Webster say in his interview "This is not about me - it's about *my* players."
We're far from world-beaters, but we're a different prospect to the easy beats we'd become a couple of months ago!

| Big effort from Ali, looked as though he had never been away. Was only expecting a few minutes in each half, he put in some serious game time.

| Not sure which of the SKY pundits said it but one said "Wakefield at the moment are a team no one wants to play". Praise indeed.
