EVENTUALLY, WE'LL WIN SOMETHING, ,MAYBE, IF I'M STILL ALIVE THEN:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_31007.jpg

This is partly for the Phil Clarke thread, but there's more to come next week. We play Leigh next Thursday, the worst night for attendances. Leigh last night had one stand completely shut along one side.

So next Thursday we are going to have a dark and half-empty Belle Vue. They are going to talk about the last time Leigh were in Super League, when they were poor and playing in a decrepit old stadium. "Look at them now!" will be the cry. Flying high and playing in a super dooper all-seater. Wakey in that time? Not even as we were, but Belle Vue probably even more decrepit, albeit with a roof on the North Stand.

The problem is, they're right, and it's a disgrace.

I can see where MC is in this ..Stuck between that Rock and a hard place...the stadium is on its last legs it does the club no favours yes its a nostalgic place for us fans but is well past its sell by date. We don't own the bloody thing to start with may be with hindsight the club should have told Yorkcourt we were going to put a bid in when it came up for sale and that we would then seek recompense for them not coming up with the goods though with the amount of monetary assets they have would not be much I guess. Even if we had bought the ground the whole lot would need a rebuild at a very big cost and before anyone says we could have done what Fev did I will ask how many of those great fantastic fans came down and helped to at least tart the place up a bit and repair some of the Barriers.. NOT MANY. What do we do stay where we are and get less funding so less to keep the players we need for SL that would end up with Championship rugby and going part time then comes a fair few fans walking away. Then comes the fact the club have less money to keep up with quality part time players and another down turn a drop to championship 1 that's not looking at the fact the ground rent would not drop to reflect where we would be eventually we would go bust. When MC came in we were in a hell of a state the bloke told it as it was we had to make cuts on all fronts or go under we had hard times to face the guy made no promises apart from we would still have a club. Yes I think we could be more informed by the trust but you also have to remember that these blokes are doing it for free and have to be aware of what they say for legal reasons can you imagine if they said something and then faced legal action and god forbid they lost their home to pay for it. I just hope that when everything comes out in the open heads will role though wont be surprised if they don't. All we as fans can do is sit tight and when the call to arms comes as I'm sure it will is take those arms up and show we can fight like hell for the club we love.

There's Only One F in Wakefield:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_2334.png

The very least we can be doing is taking to social media and trying to bring attention on our plight and the broken promises of various parties.

There are a small group of Wakey fans who are doing this on Twitter and Facebook - but more would be better. The council twitter account gets questioned every day, been trying to involve the Express and Yorkshire post but there's not enough to make ripples really.

I'd urge everyone on here to make a twitter account (you can be incognito if you wish - most people are) and just raising the issue.

It's the most public forum in the world for bringing pressure and is visible by everybody and try and build some sympathy and ramp up pressure.

As long as we dont engage in abuse or anything that would make us look stupid then worth a shot.

Good tactics could be commenting on posts by Council/YEP/Wakey Express/National papers asking for an investigation or asking why WMDC isn't standing by it's commitments etc.

Might come to nothing but its easy to do and may have some effect.

See they are fighting along with Mary Creag to reinstate the council bonfire. No talk of doing the same for the stadium though.

I think I will reject your kind offer because you have followers who still believe you will lead them to the promised land (ground). I hope their faith is justified and you have a plan to secure our future in super league at a ground within the local area.
I guess we will only find out what that is by allowing you to complete your plan and let's hope it is successful.

WHY DON'T WE JUST ACCEPT THE FEATHERSTONE OFFER??? It's a lovely little ground, and we can all get a good night's sleep without any worrys!!!!! I'd love to stay at BV even in the state that it's in, but would attend at Fev willingley.

Eastern wild cat has a point.
That's why attendances are on the slide you never know what your going to get with Wakey and only the die hards are willing to take that chance.
It's been like that for as.long as I can remember and it's unlikely to attract new blood attending.

Fev would definitely be a better option IMO, good little ground and pretty local, it's just crap for parking! I imagine we will be looking to move out of the Wakefield district for political reasons though, maybe this is our final card in trying to enforce a deal with the ground

Quote: Scarlet Pimpernell "I was under the impression that the covenant on the ground restricted it use whilst we chose to remain. I regret that now we have voluntarily washed our hands we have lost the security it provided.
I would remind people once again that even if the current building was included it did not reach the threshold to build us a ground. I guess we blinked first and have weakened our position. What can we now do other than to move away, who will that hurt only the supporters not the developer, council or even our board who will be able to pass the responsibility to the new ground owners.
I hope we are not being sacrificed on the alter of self interest. I would ask if this was Ted or Glover making this decision how well do you think it would be received. I doubt we would blindly accept this decision but it was in our name so I look forward to finding out the plan the board have to ensure we stay in Super Leage at a ground that is easily accessible to those who have invested more than just money supporting Wakefield Trinity.'"

I worked with, and supported, 3no Chairmen during this process. IMO they have all genuinely tried, even the Andrew / James set up that lasted 2 minutes. Michael has worked damned hard for this club and deserves support whilst he runs it. We don't always agree, but I respect his position and would ask others to the same.

You mention Ted, and I started in all this under Ted and worked closely with him on it. He still harbours hopes that we can resolve all this, but he sold the ground (admittedly in good faith) whilst we didn't have a deal signed and sealed for a new ground (it was Thornes Park at the time), which if he'd not done, or if we hadn't run up debts that needed paying off, would have us in a very different situation now. No one tried harder than Ted and no one put in more effort to sort this though - it just didn't work out!

As Michael has already stated, if anyone genuinely wants to get involved, please come forward. We keep going!

Politics is the reason we are not in the new stadium right now.
