| Quote Trojan Horse="Trojan Horse"Leaving space for a couple of players could have been a master stroke here.
A couple of strong players from a team who finished in playoffs could really give us a positive boost.
I guess any transfer fee would be welcome and aid Salford too.'"
The thing is, if they'd sold a player a week ago they'd have got a better fee than now when everyone knows they have to sell.
The money they have to save isn't all in player contracts but it's a significant number so they are going to have to lose a few.

I assume the 800k reductions in overheads will pretty much be all in player contracts, being that they need to get down to £1.2million on the cap, I doubt they are very far off 2 million as they were at 1.8 last year before signing the likes of Marsters, Nikorema and Hill.

| You would think Cas are another club with plenty of cap space?
Excellent opportunity for Jepson, who will be outright owner of the club in just over 2 weeks time, to splash the cash and drastically improve his squad.

| Quote Butcher="Butcher"Now it seems extremely unlikely that Bain moving on has nothing to do with what’s going on at Salford. Only us and Huddersfield with quota and cap room. We’re signing at least one from Salford aren’t we. Really hope it’s MacDonald or Lafai, with a Watkins chaser.'"
Salford fans seem to think Lafai is going home.

| The other aspect with this, which is an obvious one, should we be going after a player(s) is making sure they actually want to be at the club and come with the right attitude, I know that's easier said than done but I think Mills will be all over that given his role, I remember the situation with Sammut and Scruton... I think they turned out OK in the end but for the first few months at least it was really obvious they didn't want to be here, infact I remember one of if not the first game they played against Bradford was probably the most disinterested performance I've ever seen from a player with Sammut in particular.

I would have thought so too.
Also Hull FC have just gone through a takeover, and given their last couple of years, wouldn't be surprised if there is activity there too.
Regardless, I trust Daryl, Ste and Matt, make the right decisions for the club

No bigger waster than Paul McShane after we rescued him from Championship club Widnes. Thought we were unwise signing Ben Jones-Bishop but he proved to be a belter.

I agree. We've built a squad very carefully, making sure they are all a good fit.
Adding a rebel will undo all that in an instant.
On Sammut and Scruton.
Sammut was only useful in that he wasn't at Bradford when they needed him.
Scruton turned out to be a great player for us.

Exactly, he was more about weakening a relegation rival more than strengthening us.
Which worked out pretty well that season as we stayed up and the Bulls were relegated.

| You would think if Cas go for Watkins his relationship with their new coach would put them in the driving seat.

Possibility of that but with the direction trinity seem to be heading and how much improved behind the scenes the club are, we are a much more attractive proposition for players I’d bet.
