| Quote: bentleberry "]Indeed, my apologies, they do only have 4 (+ some other fields and the all-weather hockey pitch), but they wouldn't be losing any sports pitches by putting this on, they would gain a stadium around one of their pitches which they could use for their own events throughout the year. The school also isn't averse to selling off land to gain sporting facilities. I'm not saying it's ideal, but it'd certainly be an avenue worth exploring with either of the private schools in the city. It's mutually beneficial for the club and school so funding it may be easier'"
They only sold land to extend what they had in front of the school in the late 80's. They sold 2 rugby fields and an athletics track where Silcoates drive and Silcoates Avenue is and around the same time they sold the land they had behind Toll Bar Lane , which is now called the Mount. There's absolutely no chance though Silcoates would have a Wakefield Trinity Stadum on their Land, wouldn't get past the Board of Governors.
Anyway interesting read Vasty , some good ideas in there.

It's just an idea - I have no idea tbh but if there was the will then yes.
It is certainly an easy option that would very much get the council off the hook - assuming they think they are on a hook.
Lets see what happens but it won't be decided by me or you sadly.

| I forgot to mention that there are numerous stadiums around the UK operating this model to various degrees though I know of none that are 100% modular.
The one closest to us in scale is Bath RUFC (Recreation Ground) who's stadia is very temporary in nature though I think recently some more permanent stricture have been added.
Also I need to add that although it's a cheaper option that doesn't mean it should be done on the cheap. We are not talking a load of old portacabins we are talking bespoke on the major items.
You can justify £25 to sit in a modular stand but you can't justify £25 in this day an age for an obstructed view so any roofs must be the more expensive cantilever option - it's that kind of thing that would be the difference between a dump fit for stock car racing and a facility fit for a major sport in the 21st century.

| That surprised me that Bath have so much uncovered.
But the difference with their option is like you said, they have permanent parts. This for me shows why doing this at Belle Vue is the preferred option.
Needs to be a recognised Base.

| Would the old Newton Bar site be any use as a possible location? It's owned by the council and is brownfield so I'd have thought planning would be easier, it's got good motorway links too and plenty of space for parking

| Or even the fields that are close to Pinderfields and the road that leads from there to Eastmoor Road.

Owned by QEGS, if you mean the Old Stanley Royd fields. They bought it and fenced the 2 playing fields all off. Wouldn't get planning imo anyway because of the housing complex on the old Hospital and the surrounding area.

| We don't need temporary we need permanent, if we have to do it on the cheap I'd rather reclaim stands like Fev did, plenty of them knocking about. As for other sites in Wakefield perfect for a stadium there's loads it who's paying for it that's the problem.

| Yes I think your right now. Couldnt think of the name of the road.
It has now come to me. North Avenue.
Not been at that part of Wakey for quite a while.
Although there are a lot of industrial units and car showrooms near me by the Swan and Cygnet. There still does appear to be quite a few open spaces

LOL I was thinking of the ones along Eastmoor Road, but the funny thing is the ones up North Avenue were bought by QEGS as well some time ago. They put a Rugby Field and a couple of Football fields on it. They bought it around the time they sold the land near the big roundabout at the bottom of Leeds Road/Bar Lane where some new houses were built.
