| I think we need to stop thinking that Newmarket will be the start of a massive new financial dawn. Look at Salford.

| Quote Fordy="Fordy"I like your optimism but I suspect that for a club with a recent history like ours there aren't any lenders out there that would take a punt on us.
As for supporters, it's a possibility but bearing in mind we've only managed to persuade 1500 to buy season tickets then I suspect there wouldn't be enough fans that would volunteer for this scheme.'"
Sadly right on both counts. The are absolutely no guarentees if and when Newmarket will come to being so borrowing against it is impossible. And getting an interest free loan from fans? Even less chance!

I think Salford, (sorry Red Devils) concept of "build it and they will come" initially failed. Stage two is obviously to "build the team and they will come" - I have my reservations about this also. Moving stadiums is a massive gamble IMO and that goes for WTW and Cas Tigers. Saints have lost a fortune even with crowds over 10K - something we should all be aware of.

Its costing Salford more now to run a brand-spanking new stadium than when they were at the Willows. Same can be said for Saints and for Leigh.

All those three owned their stadium prior to moving, Trinity don’t and from figures bandied about on here (not the greatest source) it costs them circa £100k a year to play at Belle Vue.

Would that circa £100k be for rent alone or general up-keep of the ground included in the figure ?

| Can't believe what I'm reading on here TBO...A business plan has been put in place (I believe) for New Market which will see turnover increase greatly; add to that project funding is all but secured, the club and individuals have given vast resources to the project and after a lengthy up hill battle for all concerned some of you now think we should lose focus!!!

| Just to go back to an idea to generate money, how about selling the advertising space on the Aframe trailer thingys to someone for the off season?
They're currently not being used to promote Wakefield season tickets etc, well the one on the road form Wakefield to Pontefract isn't so I'm assuming it's the case for all of them, so might as well sell the space to someone else. Especially with it coming up to the busy Christmas period, people are trying to advertise everywhere they can.
It won't raise a lot of money but it's better than nothing.
Or alternatively. use them to promote the offers on season tickets etc to try and get more income into the club.

I don't think it's a matter of anyone at WTW wanting to lose focus on Newmarket - it's a case of more pressing issues like the survival of the club which might of put Newmarket down on the priority list.
