I'm only relaying what has been said in Oz.
Everyone has to start somewhere.

| I’d be very suprised if Magoulias drops out of the NRL, as he’s a decent player and also pretty young. With Cronulla having signed Finucane at 13, I’d be suprised if no other NRL team snaps him up. Wasn’t that long ago that Capewell was linked to us after being unwanted by Cronulla. Within 2 seasons hes become an origin player and won a GF.

True and I don’t know if he is tbh though if he joined us I’d start to wonder but who knows.
The point I’m making is that we’ve signed a very similar player or may have done in SA. Seems like overkill to bring one over from Oz, especially when the British game actually produces a lot of this kind of player.
Although I’m a fan of the universal forward I’m not sure that’s what we should be using the quota for, see my reasons above.
For me a quota player should be special, a player that simply isn’t available in the British game or at least not to us.
Fifita and Tanginoa are great examples. Fifita in particular, not much of an NRL rep yet he clearly gave us something we couldn’t find domestically.
I’m only musing, heaven forbid that anyone took my opinion on players too seriously, in the coach I trust.

He will also cost more and take up a quota spot.

He's more like a Westerman in skills than a Sadiq.

I’ve always felt the same. But with seven quota spots it allows clubs to bring over far too many run of the mill players. I wish they’d take it back down to three to improve the quality and help develop our own. I remember us having Mark Graham, Brent Todd and Steve Ella all at the same time back in the 80s.

Unfortunately that's not an option in SL for almost every club the wages in the NRL allows SL clubs to sign either squad players or those that have done it and can get another decent chunk in the UK, Catalans is slightly different as they are ruled by the salary ca but its implemented differently and also the lifestyle in the South of France is probably more appealing to some of the Aussies and Kiwis.

I agree, and the fact that SL and the NRL are played at the same time means it won’t happen, but if we reduced the quota spots clubs would be more selective about who they signed, and it’d create more opportunities for homegrown players.

And I agree with that the incentives should be to grow our game at home however that wouldnt work too well for the expansion supporters.

Two of those 3 were excellent signings for us, but Brent Todd, has to be up there amongst, if not the top of our.worst ever signings, and I’ve been watching trinity since 1956,
