Quote: chissitt "I must be one of the unfortunate ones then, because even with my half a brain I thought that those three late tries were brought about through playing good rugby making a normally very good solid defence look ordinary, as against Leeds "putting the cue on the rack" there was nothing wrong yesterday or the week before, that was not wrong for some time now, the difference is yesterday apart from the first 20 minutes in the second half we competed against the league leaders, but lets not dwell on anything positive when we can highlight the negatives.'"

Good teams like Leeds don't put the 'cue on the rack', I think McDermott would have been fuming that Leeds let so many points in so late in the game!
The last ten minutes were very entertaining and showed how we should have been playing when our brain was engaged.
Something to build on I think and I have hope now for the Salford game.

In most games this season, with a noticable couple of exceptions, we've had a spell in the game when we have done ok, but what we don't do is the hard work when the chips are down. When the opposition comes at us we fold like a pack of cards because we don't want to do the mucky stuff like defend the line like our lives depend on it or make those head down up yards 10 metres off our own line. Its alright throwing the ball about in the last 10 minutes when the (previously out of form and injury ravaged) opposition have all but 60 on the board and have the like of Peacock, McGuire, Aiton etc sat on the bench resting for their match on thursday. But its all rather pointless if the game has long gone, although it seems enough to placate some. The attitude has to change more than anything else. You have to earn the right to do the fancy play on the back of sheer hard work, something we have been reluctant to do. If we change that then we have a chance. If we don't forget it.

Below is taken from the match report in the Yorkshire Post. Don't get me wrong the tries we scored were good ones and it was good to see that we didn't just go through the motions but lets not pretend Leeds were still going full on at that point.

[iWith Thursday’s game against Castleford Tigers in mind, coach Brian McDermott took the opportunity to give some of his key men, including Sinfield, Jamie Peacock, Stevie Ward, Paul Aiton and McGuire, a breather in the late stages, as well as introducing 18-year-old half-back Jordan Lilley for his Super League debut.
Wakefield, to their credit, took advantage of Leeds’s reshuffle to add three tries in the final 10 minutes. Godinet created the first two for Danny Kirmond and Nick Scruton, before his run led to Johnstone going over. The Samoan also kicked two conversions.[/i

I'm not sure what your point is here, We've got the best team in the league against the worst with all sorts of well documented on field problems, yet you feel the need to highlight their injury ravaged team with only Moon and Hardaker guaranteed automatic selection, and the reserves would get into quite a few SL teams, yet fail to mention our injury list which is far greater than theirs, Iv'e read some rubbish on here in my time but your bit there where you have to earn the right to do the fancy stuff is up there with the best, I'm not going to keep repeating meself but for the last time apart from the first 20 minutes in the second half we put up a very credible performance given the opposition, and if you can't take any positives from yesterday in your quest for perfection, perhaps you might benefit from moving on to watch a team that can give you that satisfaction, good luck with it.

You really don't get it do you. My word, having read your posting over the years i knew you didn't know much about the game but that post confirms you know even less than i thought, which takes some doing.

His point is fine, its no good having a good opening 20 then a good last 10 (which is all is was really) if you've conceded 11 tries in between! You think that conceding 60 against a team, whoever it is, is a creditable performance? Really? I think you and a few others have been sucked into accepting poor performances as the norm then. There were some good signs with the ball in hand but the defence is shocking and be it attitude, confidence, fitness or whatever that yesterday wasn't good enough.

As for Leeds in addition to Hardacre and Moon there was Jones-Buchanan, Delaney, Briscoe, Leuleuai, and Achurch missing, all of which would likely be in a first choice 17 for them. So yes they had there problems as well and were in poor form before yesterday and i don't actually think they played that well, they made a lot of errors for a Leeds team. Probably a good job.

Quote: cocker "Wakey til I die wrote…." Forget fitness, forget attitude and although yes they maybe could be better, it is a lack of ability that is the main issue."

Think this is wrong imo….to me the main problem is mental attitude , After half-time we just weren't ready…..T. Smith was still getting into position so Leeds kicked off to him and ended up with ball…from then on we did not touch it for god knows how long. by then we were down and out. Just shambolic errors…..'"

I was a bit angry last night and you are right that mental attitude is a big problem. But i will maintain that some (not all!) of these players are exactly where they should be in the table and that is bottom of it. They are not good enough hence they are with us. Could they be made better with better coaching, improved fitness? Maybe some could with a lot of work. But is there time now to do that before the end of the season? Not sure there is.

I'm trying to keep up man, but unless the YP copied your post, it would appear that you've based your opinion on their report, which maybe leads me to believe your not entirely sure of what your saying and need a bit of help, I'm glad you agree though that anything about Leeds will be biased towards them.

Sorry what are you on about? Last night i posted that Leeds had eased up, i.e. their intensity dropped and key players were taken off and rested. This morning i read the match report on the YP website and that excerpt on the substitutions confirmed my initial thoughts hence i posted it to back it up in reply to the poster who had replied saying they hadn't. I know exactly what i'm saying but you seem to struggle with understanding. Get it yet?

Your pushing against an open door here squire, I'm not saying it's acceptable to concede 11 tries in a game, neither am I saying it's acceptable to concede that many points in a game, what I disputed was Leeds putting the cue on the rack, what I do find acceptable is, and by your own admission having a good opening 20 minutes and a good last 10 minutes, despite matey and the Leeds fans saying they had lots of injuries, which their club could absorb a lot easier than us, so please don't interpret my post to suit his argument, apart from that you seem to reiterate my point which was before matey tried to deflect was that although the overall performance was unacceptable there was some positives to work with, unfortunately we have people on here what don't do positives, but just prefer to whinge.

Quote: Adam_Harrison9 "If they didn't give up and managed to concede about 36 points in a twenty minute period then I am even more worried. That would just mean they're pure hoop.'"

Totally agree Adam the 20 minute spell after half time was a total disgrace they gave up hence conceding 34 points with ease. Loved watching Smith not been bothad to run just ran round in circles and threw ball to the Leeds player. Poptart has some excellent positive tinted glasses on. I need a pair.Only positive you take that shambolic 20 mins spell out of the game then yes it was better, but it doesn't work like that.

I'm not struggling with the understanding at all I do get it honestly, You thought about it last night but went against your natural instinct to put your thoughts into words, and did not want to post it until the YP confirmed your belief, of course you know what your saying, you've copied it from a biased newspaper, do yourself a favour and throw the shovel away.

Jeez, you really do epitomise the saying you can't educate pork. I give up you win, believe want you want because i don't really care enough to carry on a battle of wits against an unarmed man. It's not fair on you.
