| So we sign a HB and people want him to play FB instead of Mathers because he isn't up to it defensively... Yeah that makes perfect sense same goes for Sammut

| Well done to MC again!
Surely some of the stay away fans will be tempted back. There are quality players in the squad now, all they have to do now is play as a team!

Yep, this stellar signing will have them queuing all the way down Doncaster Road.

| I would keep Sammut where he is. Full back is a very tough position. Mathers heart isn't really in it at the moment but how Sammut played against Wigan the lad is really finding his feet, putting him out of position would be no good.

| Harry and Pita played together a fair bit in the halves , they know each others games.
I'm sure you've done your reading on young Harry , here's wot I know for what its worth.
Harry is one of those players who perhaps early success and pressure were too great for him to deal with ( pure speculation on my part ).
He was an Australian School boys wonder kid talked up to be the next best thing, at Penrith he was one of , if not the youngest player to debut in their history.
Harry has a broad range of skills , he passes well , Kicks well ( particularly good long kicking game....he can find the grass instead of opposition players ) , is a fair to good goal kicker.
Harry reads the game well.
He fell out of favor at Penrith after struggling for consistency in first grade. The NZ Warriors signed him as back up but Matt Elliot hinted he rated Harry and that he was close to getting picked in the top side based on his preseason form.
This is where the story goes down hill ( the NZ Chapter ) Harry played really well in the trials , unfortunately he picked up a serious injury and when he returned to reserve grade his heart wasn't in it.
Talk of him being homesick and frustration that his head wasn't right in games ( he drifted in and out of games....frustratingly given his potential ) Harry didn't look like he wanted to tackle.....the Club released him.
As far as your positional options go , lets assume that now Harry has reached Rock bottom in terms of his aspirations ( not the ending up in the ESL bit , the failure to crack first grade part) and he is going to give his all with this new start.......
He is not a fullback.
It would be a tough call on Pita if you had to move him since he has gone there to cement a halves spot ( It sounds like there are lots of other problems like ball security , tackling , discipline around penalties before any positional switch ' magic solutions are entertained).
Really the team should find out what it looks like to play with fifty percent of the ball before they play musical chairs imho.
If you need to move someone from the Halves , Godinet is an outstanding number 14 utility Hooker ( half / desperation Fullback cover...he has played there ).
But as I say, the thing is , before you move Godinet you really should be moving a lot of these players who can't hold the ball....and who let the side down with the penalties.
Good Luck with Harry , he is one who promised so much....a good lad and I'd be thrilled for Wakefield if his heads right....you'd have a winner there.

| Hi Mt Smart
You really do paint pretty pictures with your words.
I hope he fits in quickly because he could be a real star in Super League if he achieves his full potential with us.
We don't need to rush him in against Catalan now so gives him a bit of time to find his feet.
I look forward to seeing how he goes

I agree. Lets keep the team building as it is rather than shuffle every week.
Mathers for all his faults organises a lot at the back, and that will be important as the new guys find their feet.

| Fullback is a very hard position I agree however Sammut has played fullback many times before.
Harry Seijka hasn't come over to be 2nd fiddle, he was one of our 'first' signings. In open play Sammut is magical and he will get plenty of room at the back especially with his pace.

I think the problem is defensively with Sammut. He has been known to be found wanting under the high ball when he has played fullback in the past.

Lets hope he comes in fired up this year. I suspect he would know this is one of his last lives at a first grade spot.

My comment was not just about HS, he's an unknown quantity, I was including the likes of Scruton etc, or maybe he isn't quality enough for you?
