| On the press coverage, it was some of the rugby league writers (who are left) who chose to focus that as the main part of their reports blaming it for ruining the weekend. Most saw it as a scrap and moved on.

| Big difference, for my Guardian subscription money, between the era of institutionalised thuggery against playmakers and a bit of toe-to-toe. I don't mind the latter, and I reckon most fans don't either. The former just spoils the game.

I don't think we need a Hock, he's a brain-dead thug who years ago would have been put on his backside if he was facing a John Burke or Jim Mills. The thing I don't like about Hock is the number of cheap shots he makes, when say an opponent is on the deck and can't defend himself.
Watched Mason the other day.Still a penalty machine I'm afraid.

| Decent scrap - but it showed Hock up for what he is: completely brainless. LMS ruffed him up and Hock fell for it, shame really because he has all the atributes (apart from the savvy of course) of a world class forward who can, and does, do fantastic things on the field.
As for bringing the game into the gutter, give over - its a mans game played hard and occasionally tempers boil over. I bet that for the thousands of Wigan and Saints fans they was more exited by that short passage than the majority of the rest of the game. If it was in the NRL it would be on the next advert with a death metal soundtrack promoting the game.
No need to be ashamed of what we are. Embrace it. Even the football lads love it when a "scrap" happens, the biggest talking point in my office for ages was the Bradford city melee the other week - the majority of people in my experience think it's great when players have a decent tear up in the name of their club.

| Rugby League and most hard men sports throughout history has always had a good baddie. Hock fills that criteria at the present time, and if his presence leads to one or two dust ups then there will certainly be no complaints from me. Rare we see a good old fashioned scrap nowadays anyway.

| Just been reading the Wigan board regarding this, it makes for interesting reading!!! Hock is pretty much innocent as it was all down to LMS apparently. The fact he doesn't throw one punch doesn't seem to matter??
Someone is even trying to suggest the Yorkshire based RFL are corrupt and trying to help Leeds out!! Poor old Wigan!! How quickly they forget they were allowed to cheat there way out of relegation not that long ago.
For what it's worth I think the RFL got this one just about right!

| The bans are utterly ridicolous. Hock caused it all to be fair and he gets a 2 match ban. His previous record is a disgrace that goes into consideration also 2 games compared to the Sts player with 3 is laughable. Tuson got 1 game and Mcguinnis got 3 whats going on, its a joke.

| Think the bans were fair enough. Magennis and Tuson were the head cases, rest was a bit of the usual handbags stuff.

| "Mr Wane added that since joining Wigan Mr Hock’s behaviour has been impeccable both on and off the field."
I wonder if he managed to keep a straight face when he said that?

Ditto.
Much as it irks me to let Wigan and Hock off the hook.
LMS started it but couldn't finnish it - silly boy, end of.
Hock over reacted but didn't cause much damage.
Magennis was the coward of the piece, basically hitting Tuson as he turned away.
Tuson, over reacted but to be fair had the most to be annoyed about. Certainly put Megennis in his place.
