| Batch has played at Wembley and Old Trafford for HKR in his 2 years since he moved, he moved for better prospects, a more stable environment and bigger opportunities - has has received all of that in his first 24 months, plus he is part of the leadership group. We are a different beast now to what we were in 2022 and beyond, I'm really happy for Batch and wish him well. There's no need for resentment and bitterness about the past, time to move on and enjoy what Trinity are in 2025+

I do get where Trojan is coming from, given, that as a club, who our CEO wasn't shy of stating we were spending well under the cap, which I dont deny, was happy to waste money on such Proctor, Gaskell and Lineham, but yet let him go so easily.
As for going for the money, we need to remember, we are all working under the same cap, so there probably won't be massive increases if a player goes from one club to another.
A certain CEO of another club said to me during my time at Wakefield, that there isnt usually much leeway in terms of salary increases when a player moves on, and is more about how the club is sold to the player.
We now need to move on, and support the players we have, and hopefully keep the better ones'"
Agree about wasting money on those 3 players One of the main reasons why we went down But as you say move on

| I’m going to break my silence on this one.
Batch and Carter had fallen out in a big way after Carter offered him less for his next contract than he was currently on.
Their relationship, if that’s what you call it, had broken down beyond repair and Batch was not going to sign a contract at Wakefield while ever Carter was still involved.
I’m sure the higher value contract at HKR helped his decision and I’m also sure he saw a move as a way of securing his Superleague career but the catalyst for him leaving was the breakdown in relations and what Batch felt was disrespect from MC.

Wow.
Definately in our own hands then.
You can't blame the lad for going at all.
Still people will continue to defend that action, by our then CEO.

And some people keep attacking the actions by our then CEO without Knowing all the facts .All I can say is very pleased he was there for us and think the proof is in the way Bell View looks now .And if he was as bad as some fans make out ,how come the R L ask him to go on the panel to sort Salford out

Didn't you say that someone in the know told you there isn't much difference in salaries?
You can't have it both ways.
At the end of the day Carter offered him what he thought he deserved and Batch disagreed.
It's how things work.
Without knowing the details its hard to say whether Carter was right or wrong, but he had to balance the books so couldn't just pay anything.

That was the problem Carter appointed himself to the post of football director in charge of player retention and new player selection and negotiations even though he was completely unsuitable for the post. He alienated agents who whether you like them or not are part of the game.
He was an advisor for the RFL because of his experience of reducing a club’s overheads. It’s not too difficult reduce the biggest expenditure wages. He did it with us but eventually replacing our better players with cheaper alternatives result in seasons of ineptitude and at some point relegation.
I doubt any of you would believe we would be back in SL if we had continued with Carter in charge. I know he finally started the East Stand but how many of the subsequent planning applications were to reduce the original concept due to financial restraints. It was left to our new owner to complete what the old regime were never going to do.

I did say that, yes, and a fairly reputable one too, and has been at the helm of his club for about 27-28 years or so, and the club have had a lot of duccess.
While I do agree with what he said, I get your point, but offering a lower deal. Imagine walkimg into an appraisal/salary review, after working your backside off, to be told your salary is reducing. Not surprised he told Carter where to go.
I also get your point with balancing the books, but he wasnt balancing them, when throwing money elsewhere on players. He would have got better value offering more to him, than the players I previously mentioned.
In my eyes, he got that one very wrong and reading Scarlets post, which I agree with, its not the only thing he got wrong.
So glad we are now in better hands and players are wanting to stay

Will you give it a rest and stop being so chuffin needy, you’ve been harping on about this for years and no one cares. So you fell out with Carter, big deal, get over yourself.

Looks like round 2.
Had enough of the RWB army.
Did you want to see that contract by the way?

It was you who appeared to be so needy to be in the orbit of those in charge which I am sure this was taken advantage of but he can’t trouble you anymore. You are now free of his influence and it is no longer necessary to defend them. I know old habits die hard but give it a go because I am sure someone no longer cares about you.

Still, what would this place be without the odd pointless feud to liven things up a bit.

| There was always a scent of will he wont he about Batchelor (and similarly Kershaw) during 2021. Chester had played Batchelor a lot off the bench and strong rumour was he was leaving at the year end to get more game time and refresh his career/form which was stagnating a bit. He then surprisingly signed a one year deal maybe linked to Poching taking over or maybe no other options. One year suggested it just delayed the inevitable so no sooner had 2022 started then the storyline continued.
Love reading interviews from the likes of Bob Haigh, David Jeans and Dave Smith where they just turned up for training to be told they'd been sold to Leeds.

| The last couple of pages on here regarding Batchelor gate and player management in general goes to show the importance of the appointment of Ste Mills as recruitment manager.
Jerrys story of his departure from the giants is another example of bad player management (something the giants excel at) and not something that just happens at Trinity .
Batch has moved on … good luck to him in his career. I also think Trinity have moved on now with our recruitment strategy. Transparency is always the key…a great listen on transparency is the second half of a podcast Ste Mills did with Trnity Heritage on recruitment .
I’m a fan of moving forward rather than dwelling on decisions (good or bad ) that were made in the past .
