This is the first I've read or heard of a counter offer.
What was/is the offer? Does it involve any community facilities other than a stadium?

It's not for me to divulge confidential information on here but the offer was unacceptable and did not involve community facilities.

As you seem to be alluding to the issue is not just about Wakefield Trinity it's about a Community Stadium and all the other facilities that were promised for the people of the Wakefield district.

Won't the RFL want to help fund an iconic stadium like BV, just a thought icon_smile.gif

Quote: Smew "She had every right to object and she was given ample opportunity. The WMDC/Secretary of State having considered hers and other objections decided to the planning application in the public enquiry on the basis of the benefits that the S106 agreement would provide.

On that basis the Newmarket residents would be imposed with a development approx 80%? industrial units and 20%? Community facilities - hard to swallow for them, but that is what was approved.

How hard must it now be for them to swallow the fact that it will probably end up as 100% Industrial units and 0% Community facilities?

Not sure how they may feel about that, but perhaps they are laughing their socks off at the rugby fans misfortune.

They were duped, as were we Wakefield fans and Wakefield constituents as this was all a cleverly devised plan to do exactly what has happened.'"

I take your point, looking at it that way its hard to argue against.
Every one seems to have lost out but Yorkcourt.

Quote: Sandal Cat "Thanks for this.

At first I thought I was on my own for wanting to fight and stay in Super League in a quality stadium and get what we the people of Wakefield were promised.

If fans want to roll over and accept a life in the Championship then thats fine and I can go and do something else with my time. As I have said we do not want to have to go to court but if thats what it takes then so be it.

I repeat what I said earlier, "I'd rather die like a Lion that live like a Lamb". If you want to live like a lamb then I'm not the man to be involved with all this and anyone is welcome to take my place.'"

Who's saying they want to roll over?

Who's saying they want to accept Championship status?

Read some of the previous posts. There is a suggestion if we could get Belle Vue back then they'd be happy with that even if it means Championship football because Belle Vue does not comply with Super League and needs £m's spending on it to comply which we have not got.

That's how I interpreted the posts as did wrencat1873. If you interpret them differently then that's up to you and where have I said that I'm the only one with passion for the Club.

Go easy on him, he has had a bucketful of this and may be a little sensitive, but some of the comments suggesting we should just accept the purchase of BV are missing the point as to what that consigns us to, probably for eternity. There is a solution involving BV, but it also needs multi-millions to make the old girl into a new sexy version of her old self!

For what its worth i think you have been screwed over big time by yorkcourt.
But all this was about community facilities where you would be tennants wasnt it? So surely if they just buy you back your ground its good for the club but the community still lose out.imagine the opposite happening and they fund the other community based things they promised but no stadium, there would be uproar on here and rightly so.
Yorkcourt should be held accountable for the whole project that was put before the sos not just be allowed to buy off one part of it because this was never just about trinity it was for wakefield as a whole.

Any deal involving the club remaining at BV would also be required to include the provision of Community Sports facilities at NM. We are conscious that there is an open commitment to Community Facilities and to the residents around NM.

Having read the response from Denise Jefferey in the W/E, it seems that both the Leader and his deputy are both trotting out the same line as Mr Box but, the most interesting part of her response is "We have a long history of top quality sport and want to support its continuation. We are proud of ALL THE RUGBY TEAMS WITHIN OUR DISTRICT."

Both Box and Jefferey have strong links with Castleford and the cynical ones amongst us may question whether there is any issue with Wakefield getting ahead of their neighbours if Newmarket is completed before Castlefords new ground, which lies in Ms Jeffereys patch.

Is it really any wonder that they don't want to help Wakefield and they may be happy to be seen not doing so ?

I've just read the letter from Denise Jeffrey where she states "we have a long history of first class sport". Well, that's all we'll have, a history, and no future.

This bit in particular is an absolute joke!

Top quality sport in Wakefield has been woefully neglected by Box and his gang.

Wakefield Rugby Union, once one of the games leading clubs and a nursery for Engalnd players and Captains was left to wither and die with no aid from the Council.

The Community sports facilities throughout the district resemble something from a pre 1940s communist backwater.

This results in any talented sportsmen and women from Wakefield going to other cities to do their training and ultimately become a product of that City rather than Wakefield.

The world famous name of Wakefield Trinity, perhaps singularly THE main reason people from the UK have ever heard of Wakefield, has been kicked to death by Box and his mob.

No doubt Peter Box will get his mug on plenty of photos as the Tour dé Yorkshire gets underway much as he has done with his other vanity projects but it's vomit inducing for anybody who knows how the guy operates.

They're a shameless bunch!
