So after suffering their first defeat in competitive rugby for 2 years Crigglestone's 13s have suffered their 1st ever competition league loss ever.
It was at the hands to a huge siddal side and I mentioned how good this team was only 3 weeks or so ago.

Out played at times , out thought and more self belief.

A few moments of all black rangers did resurface .

If self belief returns next week i know that group of lads can go to East Leeds and give a good account of themselves bringing home the spoils.

Its better all round that there is competition and what seemed formalities early as shocked a few.

We still have imo the best coach you could find and we also still have some great talent, others are chasing.

its certainly mixed up the league and as a footnote i would add that had siddal not been slow of the mark they could very well be champions. If others slip up i can see them being contenders.

well done siddal you deserved it.

What say you.

Just a quick word to siddal as a club.Thank You
I didn't come the last time I was with the other one but,
WOW!
What a club house , well run etc
And you had a BIG GALA DAY or something, but still let all the games to be played before the GALA kicked off.
Amazing how many of us were their at the club to use your stalls at the GALA.a Masters Game which i thought
that's a great idea , not only is the grass cut , lines marked but you can also multitask.
i wish i was a visionary like you then i could foward crazy ideas like this to our club.

Great bit of honesty which is fair play and tbh I was expecting siddal to win this game, they are a big imposing side who take some stopping when they are on the front foot. Its great news for the league and that's no disrispect to crigglestone who will come good again soon but for the minute they are possibly off the boil.

Back to business next week for the panthers after having a welcome break.

Cheers Muttley.

Thought it was going to be so different today after the opening ten mins and Crigg shot into the 12-0 lead.
The lads learned from the last game where not to kick the ball on last play and varied their game when closing in on the Crigg line(although still one or two too many attempts at using the forwards to barge over the line).
The game was played in an excellent spirit by two teams that put some brutal defensive hits on each other.

Glad you enjoyed the facilties and our "Aussie Day" Gala, probably made parking a bit tough with 5 games being played today.
The ground staff at the club do a sterling job with the pitches, more so when you take into account there are 10 different age groups training on the pitches through the week.

The destiny of the title is still in your hands....................Good luck
Roll on next season when hopefully it will be more than a two horse race for the title.

Sorry i didn't get a chance to take you up on the kind offer of a drink and a chat.
i didn't arrive until kick off with my lad out at the mo and the place was as I said so busy with the bands inside and all that fun it would of been like a needle in a haystack.lol.

its great having clubs from Calderdale etc in the mix and i really hope that clubs from hull district join and if we could also get a strong south Yorkshire team in every age groups premier division then i think it will really mix it up.

hope to see you soon, although i spoke to many at crigg so i might of met you . icon_wink.gif .

good luck.

Spartans lost out to Stanningley on Sunday, 18-24, in a game played in blistering conditions; barring any perverse results towards the end of the season, that pretty much wraps up final league places in div 2, which should see Stanningley finish top, with Spartans second.

I'm not supposed to say, but the Leeds ref had a pretty hefty hand in the final score - it's never a good sign when the ref is calling all the opposition players by their first names. Hey ho - such is life.

We host Eastmoor next Sunday in the Wakey cup, with a place in the final at BV at stake, the lads will be giving their all to end the season with a bang.

It's been a great season overall and second in the League is not to be sniffed at, in the end it was our beginning which cost us the title. We played a number of games in adverse weather when other matches were called off, we played while missing 6 players with broken bones losing 3 tight games to teams we subsequently hammered when back to something like a normal line up.

Sunday's game was hard to watch as Coach, it was a top of the table decider, we were under strength once again and we played poorly for the most part. We were on the end of a 16 - 5 penalty count and had the ball over the line 9 times yet were awarded just 3 tries?

Onwards and upwards!

Cas academy played the Wakefield all stars team at wheldon rd today, some great talent on show with the all stars finishing comfortable winners after it been 10-12 in a even first half.

Bad news for me that my lad broke his wrist early in the second half,it's not a bad break so its come at a good time if there is one with the summer break all but here. icon_sad.gif

Hey guys. Not sure if this is the right place to post, but hey-o, its worth a shot.

I'm interested in getting back to playing rugby. I'm 19 now, and haven't played since I was maybe 15. (I use to play for Crigglestone All Blacks). I don't really know how good I am, and not knowing anyone who plays for a team its quite daunting to actually approach a club about it! Any advice would be greatly appreciated icon_smile.gif

Thanks

Ossett Trinity have revitalised their Open Age side - new coach, new enthusiasm and there appear to be lots of lads training; we share their base, so have seen it first hand.

They train on Tues & Thurs night - I'm sure you'd be made welcome.

Shaw Cross would welcome you, don't go to Westgate cos they've shut down.

They only had open age and 16's last i heard, a few parents/coaches made a big effort to get more juniors involved but sadly it never happend.

Some of the open age went up to Cross but i don't know what happens to the younger players.
