Quote: The Trip "There's a mini bus full of Crusaders fans down from Cheshire !!! The cardiff people are there in droves. The Crusaders are our target this year, they have in essence gone bust 2 yrs running and my money will be on the hat-trick this season, which will leave the red hall boys with no where to turn.'"

I can't wait to see the official attendance figure at the end; judging by what it looks like on the telly, there's been some creative counting going on thus far.

Quote: cool4kats "a penalty machine. where do you get that from. 3 penalties . 2 of which were very doubtful. the guy that gave most penalties away yesterday, you fail to mention.
the guy worked his nuts off. i was there and saw people a lot more sloppy in defence, i also watched a team with no recognised stand off, no specialist scrum half. only 2 props and a bunch of kids who gave all they had got . were 12 down in the penalty count. 2 men off the field for 10 mins each and still came away with a better score than cas did last millenium. i'd like to say the supporters that actually got there in good numbers and got behind the boys with some fantastic support were great. my opinion is for the first game of the season with what we have got against cas's sunday best. we did ok. we can only play what we have got , so instead of bagging them we should get behind them..'"

Actually agree about Korky,I thought at the time he had only given the 3 penalties and like you say, 2 of which were in the first couple of minutes, which I can't understand how the ref can give when 3 tacklers are peeling off the player, the refs got to allow time for each to get off. I thought he learned from that and was alright during the rest of the game, at least he gives some go forward, which we lack big time.

The figures I believe will be the comings and goings of the days fans at no point will there be 30,000 in the stadium at any one point in the day as the T.V. coverage is showing, crowds and figures aren't adding up.

Cool4kats this opinion isnt just formed from yesterdays game, i felt the same the back half of last season too, im not gonna fault his commitment to wakefield trinity over the years, put i think hes out of his depth in super league now.. would prefer to see Gledhill given a good run of games in his place..

Didn't make it but watched on the telly.

Some aspects were disappointing but not the effort, the energy and the committment.

I would have had Millard starting and had Dean as sub. The choice of Vievars (!) was clearly to kick goals - and having missed 2 not so difficult ones I would have to ask whether Sam / Morro couldn't have kicked them and allowed a re-shuffle or allowed Penny to start? Also questioned Sam's withdrawal near the end????

George / Johnson / Rinaldi all outstanding IMO, but no-one individual gave in and I can excuse many of the errors as being down to a lack of experience.

The main point though is where do we go from here. As already mentioned, put Rangi in a Wakey shirt and we win IMO - now that has to be a great sign - if just one player could make so much difference. We need an old head in the middle of the park - a quality half back - and we will need a bit more up front as other than Gledhill, there isn't too much to come? So, whilst we need some new players, no-way is it time to throw out the bath-water, or the baby. icon_biggrin.gif

Quote: Poynton "we are not short of props because of the financial crisis. it is because Kear preferred to sign players who have failed at other clubs like jeremy smth , kevin penny, and tommy lee..their wages would have got a half decent prop.I am sick of this myth that Kear can make a success out of every player who has failed elsewhere. his successes are far outweighed by his failures and the fact that he did not pick Penny yesterday speaks volumes.'"

You have missed the main point by a million miles if you really think that Kear wanted many of his best players to leave and replace them with kids.

The wage bill was cut by circa £300k due to our finacial plight. We let players on £60 - £80k leave and replaced them with some on £20 - £40k. Perhaps one or two could have been different, but we have also taken gambles on the likes of Johnson, Dean, Marriano, Howarth - and they will have big roles to play for us going forward.

Also, with the financial plight, the question over NM and the bigger question of SL, do you really think that we would have been able to attract better players than the ones we have???

Going forward we will, hopefully, at least have the financial stability - and that will help us over the coming months, but it's one step at a time and we still can't shop in the designer shops - not yet at least! icon_wink.gif

when hickey comes that will give us alot more grunt up front and also allow us to put johnson into the second row. there should be a fair few loan signings to come so intersting few weeks to come.

The stadium holds 74k. The top tier holds 33k and the North Stand probably holds about 7k. So, you're looking at a maximum of 34k tickets. The figure was given as just under 31k, which is for the tickets sold for the day, not how many folk were there at once.

On the TV there looked to be a fair amount of Wire and Cas fans for their respective matches, but the majority of them seemed to disapear when their team wasn't playing. 31k seems about right to me.

Clear interference from Sinfield then - seems that ok though.

Do I sound bitter? I am - I hate Leeds.
