whilst it is great for the club to be bringing players through and I'd love to see the club full of local lads, we have got to look at it and think are we going to give say hall and Murphy the help and guidance needed to kick themselves and our club on to better things. It's all well and good producing players but no good if we're still at the bottom of the league. I suppose it depends if all that matters is survival every season

You my well be right, but I worry we will see a 30 plus aussie on a long contract to replace him.

As for the 5 good years, I want a return on my squad builder investment and to lose him just coming into his prime means some other club will reap that benefit, at least when we were a selling club we got money for these type of players.

For a player who has shown so much passion and determination for the club it seems to me it wouldn't have taken that much more to keep him.

Batch has really come good during the 2nd half of the season and with Ashurst not getting any younger, it would have been nice to see him stay.
His form over the past couple of months has been outstanding and it's massive credit to the lad, playing in a losing side and with a different gig lined up for next season, that he has really put his hand up and given 100%.
Cant knock his effort or loyalty and I wish him well for whatever comes next.

As for Gale i don’t know who you were watching last night but the one i was seeing was way off the pace, like he has been all season. A couple of badly dropped grubbers by us does not make a good performance for me. It would be more akin to the Brough signing.

Your defence of the board is admirable if not surprising with numerous posts especially the sudden decision based on one game that Gale would be good for us and strangely you feel for at least two years. I get the impression you are paving the way for an announcement by suggesting he his something he was a few seasons ago but is no more, a player who would improve the squad. I expect even you struggled with this logic.
With regards Batchelor let’s face it based on recent seasons any club is bigger than us and we had until the first of May to try to sign him to a new deal. I expect he would not move for less but did we try because I am still uncertain if we even spoke to him for the reasons I have stated previously.
What I find really worrying is your (I say your) view that we face another season of penny pinching on the squad but you are correct this is the decision of MC not the coach.
We must have lots of money in the budget for next season do you have anymore players YOU ? feel we need to sign.
The bottom line is based on your unique position that once again if we dodge relegation this season we can expect the same if not worse next. I would hope that the club would think the supporters deserve better and we have been given another opportunity to sort things out but it looks like they believe we will accept anything because they saved the club. I guess some will but also many will not and another struggling season in a time of financial crisis will not generate enough new supporters to replace those who have had enough and walked away from the game and the club.

We will see, what do you believe our strategy will be next season with regards the squad. We have always found it easier to offload players but much more difficult to find suitable replacements at the salary we are willing to pay.
I think it’s clear that next seasons squad will be the one MC wants not necessarily the coach.
