OK but look what you're left with. MC has already stated next year will be even tighter whilst the rest of our pack really are ageing fast.
I'm not disagreeing with you but he's going to cost and it will hit other recruitment.

If there ever was a season that we need to break the bank then its the next one (providing we survive this year)
We must hit the ground running as we enter the improved stadium, we need a feeling of positivity to get our support base expanded and retain supporters. Better facilities are great, but you still need a good team on the pitch to get the whole club building and growing.
Perhaps breaking the bank is not the right term, lets say invest more than we normally would in order to gain far bigger benefits in the near future

Although it won't be as dour as MC makes out, he is an accountant after all, it won't be a spending season I can assure you. Everything next year will depend heavily on the younger squad members stepping up. If it works it will achieve what you want, it's not just about money, if not well another hard season awaits.
That said I totally disagree about breaking the bank, when has that ever worked for us? You surprise me there.
The 2024 season will be the one to go for as the ground will be sorted and we could actually capitalise on our investment.

| I know we expanded the squad now perhaps we should reduce it and spend on better quality. A risk it is but the Academy is paying dividends now so it's time for a proper pathway from Academy to reserves to first team

2024 would be too late ,if we cut back and get relegated before the development is complete.

No I think you misunderstand.
Clearly we will have to invest and go to our absolute max to at least make a fist of next year. However for me the break the bank bit needs to wait a year as i just don't see the return.
For example, if we did attract a lot of new fans next year where would you put them?

2024 could be irrelevant anyway if the powers that be are going to do whats been suggested...
SL1 & SL2 of 10 teams each.
Can't see us being in SL1 even with our flashy new stand unfortunately.
Unless we finish high up next season and that determines what league you're in.........

| We cannot go on another season like the last three because it will clearly be too late if we wait for the income from the redeveloped ground. We have allowed the squad to be weakened with the possibility of it being further impacted by the loss of several further first team players.
I cannot remember the exact phrase used by the club but it was along the lines of “we want your unquestioning support”. This is all well and good but in return they cannot expect this blind loyalty to cover another season of performances like the last three. I have said before the supporters or what is left have done their bit now it is the club’s turn to provide a squad worthy of this loyalty. It appears that every other team have been able to do this but not us we just continue to play the “we do not have the funds and need to trim costs further” a common phrase drilled into all finance directors and accountants.
The club need to consider at this time of a cost of living crisis that they are in the entertainment business (you will need to use your imagination a bit here) and people will need a good reason to spend any excess funds they have to attend. I am sorry but the only selling point we have is what we produce on the field not in the accounts. The club can continue with their money is tight but it is their job to generate the income now or they face a club stagnating, crowds decreasing, reduced merchandise sales and ultimate relegation. We had until the first of May for example to try to retain the likes of Batchelor but it would appear we decided not to bother based on our we have not asked strategy.
If we dodge relegation this season it gives the club what I believe to be one last chance to correct the on field problems with the squad if they fail to do so despite the obvious then they will have failed the supporters who have put their faith in them and our great club.
I would add that the club will need to do something to protect the patrons in the temporary south stand seating or season ticket sales could be affected considering the season will probably start in February.

Could this be the reason why we are seeing a more consistent Miller ?

I agree with everything you say. What was the announced gate yesterday, 3800 I believe. Seems about top side as crowd looked sp. Thats not facilities holding support back, its the reasons you have outlined in the main.
