Top six 2005 - Trinity.: |
|
| If we still have 5? or so unvaccinated then Tolouse will be rubbing their hands for our visit. We quite simply need to win.
I thought we were much improved today overall.
Our main issue tonight was yardage. Repeatedly making 9-15 metres in 5 tackles only for the opposition to be making 35-60 metres.
I thought huddersfield were incredibly lucky the ref was lenient with them tonight. They could have conceded countless penalties for holding down and off side but the ref just let it fly.
When Murphy was playing ball and the hudds marker all over him pushing him to the floor should have been a penalty to Trinity and the giants preyed on the naivety of the ref.
Thought we were better tonight though and we just need to keep applying that effort and we will come out with a win.

Did they let you down genuine question because I know your threshold for being disappointed is higher than some.

| That was fun.
It’s not just the losing, that was such a tedious game.
Apart from Murphy not a single glimpse of entertaining RL

That's pretty much how I see it.

| With 5 minutes to go we appeared to continue with the play it safe game plan when we needed to at least try to be a little adventurous.

The only player who seemed to have any sense of urgency in the engine room was Liam Kay. This is a 30-year-old recently converted to the position he now plays. How shameful is that?
The only hope I have is that we've hit rock bottom. We will continue to get stuffed all season but we might just have enough to win maybe two more games and that might just do it. However, that's four years in a row and that is utterly pathetic and no longer even has the veneer of an excuse to cover it.
I hate the expression dead wood, but........

| Unbelievably dour from Wakefield for that last 10 minutes when supposedly chasing the game. Sticking to the five drives up the middle and a kick. Have we got Kear back already.
Icing on the cake was the hapless Miller kicking out on the full with about 1 minute to go.

| As long as you're not successfully starting again on the 26th June....
It's a funny old game, Huddersfield were rotten against us (Wire) last week and you turned us over two weeks in a row. I obviously don't watch enough of you to offer an opinion your forwards offloading at will, Lino and Miller running riot.
Is it a between the ears thing your team sheet looks decent enough on paper?

| Up to the cas game we were playing quite well ( 1st half Leeds aside) even playing attractive open rugby . Do you think given our pack the Easter period has been our downfall ??? We were all saying how fit Ashurst/Arona etc were, looking fit and playing as good as ever ?? As the 4/5 games in such a short period
just been far too much And is there hope we could find some momentum again after this rest period ??????

Fine margins, it was a cracking kick just inches too long. Same with Johnstone's foot in touch.

| Very dour game.
First half, I thought we went ok but, second half we allowed Huddersfield to totally control the game and they penned us deep in our half for most of the half.
Good to see Fifita back out there but, he was a long way from being match fit.
The only plus was that we kept them to 14 points and there was some excellent line defence, which we havent seen for weeks.
With ball in hand we were poor, very poor.
Wooden spoon battle next time out, we go to Toulouse but, hopefully to win.

I'm glad someone has pointed out that it wasn't that long ago we were all singing their praises.
A couple of losses hasn't turned good signings into bad ones
It hasn't turned fit players into unfit lazy players.
Easter has clearly affected us, as has losing Dave.
But most of all I find everything we are doing slow compared to other teams.
At Warrington we were spinning the ball to the wings quicker than they could move up. Now we can't get it past second row.
It puts centre and wing under pressure.
Because we are slow we are easy to defend against. Which means we get pressure on the line like against Wigan but can't break it.
This next two weeks is about execution of plays to me.
If we pass quicker and don't turn over early ball we win that game yesterday at a canter.

| Toulouse was always going to be another MASSIVE game, now it is even more so. On a positive note I am hoping that the following rules taken from the French Government website means that we can take a full team out there rather than having to leave certain unvaccinated players at home.
Health control measures
Should you wish to enter France from a “green” list country or territoryUnvaccinated travellers must present a negative result of a PCR test less than 72 hours old or an antigen test less than 48 hours old before departure (departure of the first flight when the journey includes a connection), or a certificate of recovery (positive result of a PCR or antigen test carried out more than 11 days and less than six months previously.[/i This certificate is only valid for a period of six months from the date of the examination or test).
This reads to me like unvaccinated players can now travel, they just need to do a PCR test beforehand.

| What sort of coaching is going on at belle vue? or is it the players arn't doing what will poaching wants?. For a start we are too flat
when attacking & not running from deep & not moving up therefore letting the opposition come to us. We have a that consistently
runs across the field, we have forwards apart from (Fafita) who are not big enough & we are still constantly ploughing down the middle.
I was speaking to an ex international wakefield who agreed with me on this performance. The championship looms nearer and
I hope Mr Carter is taking note!.
Edit. Merged this with the existing threads. Doesn't need a new one. Poptart
