I actually admire your attempt to defend the indefensible and carrying on with the line who is better then Chester. The bar is set fairly low to be better than Chester so the way to look at it is who would be worse than Chester because this is a much smaller group.
I note your usual fellow Chester defenders BG and WWW and suspiciously absent leaving you a loan voice in the wind of despair.

Why do you make it all personal?
It's not my job to defend PT but where exactly is he a Chester defender. All he's done is point out that there are other factors involved and alternative ways to look at it.
He's said on at least three posts that he thinks it's probably time Chester went or similar.
I most certainly do not admire the way you manipulate people's posts to further your own agenda.

He got absolutely lambasted by the turncoats one here. If I were him and after all he had done for the club, I'd tell Wakey fans where to shove it. He's better off at Bradford.'"
There may well have been some on here but from memory overall he left on a reasonable note didnt he? With a win over Bradford when we some how still didn't finish bottom despite horrendous financial issues? Most fans I know still hold him in reasonable regard if not higher like myself. He was far from perfect but he was good at getting the best out of players and had a good eye for a player too.
As you allude to though the idea of coming back may not appeal, but usually brass talks if nowt else

| Quote PopTart="PopTart"Personally I'd rather go for a Wane or Kear....... Or an up and coming NRL coach who has good recommendations like JD did.
I think it needs someone with either a lot of experience or someone removed from the emotion who just wants to get a result and move on in 2 years.
If we had to go unproven English I'd go for James Ford at York.'"
So you don't want Ward, a guy who got London promoted against all odds aganst megabucks Toronto, almost kept them up with the smallest budget in the league and has been an assistant to Wayne Bennett for Great Britain. But you'd be happy with James Ford, a promising coach yes but one who has never coached in the top division in any capacity, in fact has never even dealt with fulltime players before and whose team is currently in the bottom half of the championship despite having one of the bigger spending budgets and many well known players. Right OK then.

Well that's not how I remember things. My recollection is that a bitterness and a bit of a falling out developed when Kear was approached by Catslan but the club would not allow it without compensation. From that point on things were not the same and bad feelings started to build and fester. But you are correct he left in a bitter way and got some stick.
But he did return after all that. The second time he left was with a thank you from the club and I honestly dont remember one bad word from anyone on the second occasion. Could be wrong but that's what he recall.

| Quote vastman="vastman"To a point I agree in that Ward was under very little pressure at London, big fish small pond.
However at the moment, we have sunk back to being a very similar club to London, we shouldn't be but we are.
After a few years playing and competing like a conventional team, we are now back to needing to find the mongrel spirit to survive as SL underdogs. In which case Ward might just fit the bill. He's certainly not tried and tested as Kear was but he showed enough to suggest he can get results from less than promising players.
Who would you suggest? Nobody immediately springs to mind. In a perfect world, JD would be the man but there is more chance of you or me getting the gig to be honest.'"
There's been some pretty pointless discussions on here, but this one really is the most ridiculous?!! Unless of course his sacking/resignation is imminent...........?

I’m talking about this forum and fans in general. He was absolutely hammered on here for his ‘boring’ rugby despite no budget and a six point deduction. Sorry PB but all those who wanted him to get the freedom of the city in 2006 wanted him out.
Of course it went well the second time as the team was playing well.

If we are going down that route with the unproven English and I'm certainly not against it, I'd go for Sean Long at Leeds, love to see him given the chance.

Personally think that's too much of a gamble given our predicament

| As much as it pained me watching our team lose an 18 points lead yesterday, and as much as I despair at most of our plays, and in the frustration of the moment I think CC should leave, I didn’t see him drop the ball from the GLDO, which started the giants revival, I didn’t see him mess up trying to pick the ball up the knock it over his try line then pass it to a giants player to score, all the other mistakes the players on the field make. I agree with his criticism of players, I don’t think some of them are good enough, I believe some of them don’t have Trinity at heart, and should be released. None of us are privy to what goes on in the dressing room, on the training field or the social life of the players. Only the Coaching staff have that information.
I don’t know if CC will leave/be sacked, sometimes I think he should, but as supporters, we have to back the club
I think we will end up in the second tier if it’s 2x 10 league, depending on CC recruitment for next year. I will be disappointed if that happened, but I will still be a supporter, as I’m sure many others will be, it’s in the blood.

Yes plenty of stick but after all that he did return. So why not return again.
In all fairness though I dont think he sees himself at the sharp end anymore. Director of rugby is the role he prefers these days

| Kear or Ward for me.
Ward got a lot out of a group that were really a good Championship squad by getting them fit and by making it look like they were enjoying themselves. He proved himself, in my view, given the talent he had at his disposal.
We've gone downhill since Kear left, and it is hard not to wonder whether in reality it was a Kear-coached side that did so well. Any coach with Chester's record over three seasons would have gone. I can understand that the club would be reluctant to sack him if there is no relegation, as there wasn't last year, as it would cost money, but to reward performances that are way below our squad quality, and have been for a long time, with a new contract would be plain bizarre.
