I would imagine it's because Anderson thought he could make brierley into a fullback..... Stone had other ideas.

Whilst he wouldn't necessarily been my choice as a think he is comfortably past his best i can see why we have gone for him but what i don't get is why 2 years? That takes him well past his 34th birthday, surely a year would have been better and see how things are going after that.

Underwhelmed on this one to be honest and especially with the fact he has been given a two year deal. Heres hoping that we havent splashed the cash too much on this one and that more convincing signings are just around the corner.

I do though, however feel that we needed cover there and hope this signing prove me wrong.

If it is just as back up he may only play the odd game here and there.

He can cover various positons in the backs but unfortunately he isnt blessed with much pace these days

So why was he not re signed by Stone ?

I can remember that last fullback we got from Shudds and he was a great club favourite but turned out utter dross for us.

Grix may have all the mental qualities and be a great human being but his age means we are taking a massive unnecessary risk

I'm comfortable with him being a back up utility player. Tbh I'm not sure who people think we're going to sign, when they aren't even going to be first choice in the 17 each week. Until we see all the signings we've made and what the squad looks like , how can people say we're going backwards, or we could have signed better. How do they know who'd come here or who we've inquired about and got a knock back from.

This. How can people say he's a waste of money when they don't even know how much money he's on? We might have got him on a good deal for us. Is he gonna be first choice? Probably not, but he can cover anywhere in the back line if someone gets injured which is exactly the kind of player you want as a squad player.

Maybe the club offer something like a one year deal on x thousand, or a two year deal but on 5-10k less a year. As I say, unless people know exactly what kind of money he's on then you can't really say whether it's worth it or not.

By all means take your ticket back Hank, but I don't think they'll give you your brass back, and allow people to express their opinion!!

A lot of Giants praising Grix on Twitter tonight. Hopefully he can guide max and make sure he fulfills his potential

I agree with a lot of posters with the unwarranted negativity about Grix. I recall similar previously with Paul Sykes at a similar age and he turned into a decent signing. Have confidence in Chris Chester and John Kear who will be influential in signings.

He's a Trinity player now so should get 100% support.....not criticised and he's not even worn the shirt yet!
