the reason I put about rules and laws is because my son and his mate did their level1 refa course last year and the bloke taking the course told them there are only guidelines.that bloke was ben thaler.i am not saying I know more than other people or anything else just what my son told me.it put him off refereeing in the future and he only refs at school for his school work.

i to had to take my refs papers when getting my coaching levels and it does make good sense. but i easily passed the level in theory that would have allowed me to referee one of the old "A" team games but its much harder when you try and do it "live" one morning a ref didn't turn up for a junior game and i was asked to officiate i said i would if both coaches agreed. boy is it different. in the theory test its a multi choice tick the box exercise and take as long as you want to make the decision. in a game its not that you havn't seen whats happened its trying to think what the rule is for what you have just seen and what your options are. if your not sure you do tend to lean towards the home team.
