Agreed. Especially when (admittedly only on a limited amount of viewing), i would have said that Godinet is more of a hooker than a half back.

I'll be honest I wouldn't be that happy or that confident going in with just those options and then add to that if any get injured.

I know Godinet's coming but imo we lack creativity.

If I remember correctly when reading his former clubs forum that's what a lot of their fans thought.

If we enter this season with just Sykes and Godinet the prospect of relegation seems a strong possibility.

Don't know what we offered 'harry secombe' but he won't be comming for nothing. Then there will be the costs of his fights, accommodation etc. I would reckon for a few more quid we could get Luke Gale from Bradford. He's a local lad, has agreed to play for us in the past and you know exactly what you will be getting.

If Siejka does sign for the Broncos, there should be some dynamics between Moore and himself!
Maybe London is a safer option for him as he probably would be automatic choice at halfback.
May have to work for his place or even get benched if at Wake

We got the best out of Sykes when he was having to compete for his place with John but John was subsequently under used. Not sure we have sufficient strength in depth at 6 though with just Sykes and Godinet and Sykes was injury prone last season and is 33.

From what I've read and heard Godinet sees himself as a scrum half and NRL club tried to convert him to hooker for 9/10 matches. Sykes is a make shift stand off from 2 years ago so a genuine SL standard stand off is required if we are to really compete throughout the season IMHO.

If Siejka comes and becomes first choice Sykes could compete with Mathers for full back. If he wants to be playing with a competetive team in front of an 8,000 plus crowd then Wakey is the place.

Think he's played most of his junior and lower grade rugby in the halves and that is definately what he sees himself as but nearly all of his first grade appearances at the warriors came as an interchange hooker and he played at 9 in 3 of Samoa's 4 games in the world cup.

Makes no difference anyway, he's going to have to be our number 1 halfback and be damn good at it if we are to have a chance of staying up.

We are a little light in the halves but I think McShane gives us more creativity from dummy half than Aiton did.
This could be the big factor in the make or break of the halves.

Like I said above, as you do when we sign guys you don't know too much about you go on their clubs forum. Just reading a few topics back on the Warriors site, I got it the wrong way round, he was being used as interchange Hooker by Matthew Elliot, when he got game time in the Warriors side. All those who wathced him play for the Vulcans can't believe he didn't get his chance in the halves, where he run the show in the NSW Cup over the last couple of years.

Tbh with what I've seen of him for Samoa & the highlights knocking around, I'm looking forward to see him play. If their fans are anythig to go by, we've got ourselves a very god player, who can lead a team around the field, loves setting up other players and a great kicking game especially short, quick as well.

Half back or hooker, whichever way you look we still look a bit short in the halves, but if there is no money left, then we just have to go with what we've got.
