icon_beat.gif Easy! Just contributing to a discussion. He's a good player and when he gets his chance again at 6 he will be more effective with an even stronger pack and back line than at the beginning of last season. I'm happy that he's staying we've got a good squad unlike Salford! icon_cheers.gif

In connection with the chat about Wood, he's a very good young player with a good turn of pace. A good impact player off the bench at 9.

Agree with Wood can only get better. He is willing to learn and i think will be great 9. Or in the future even a fb. Also agree with John if on the field as much as Wood would of / could of been great too.
But as with all players that don't get picked they are not going to get any better unless they have regular game time.

The Isaac John saga is a tough one. He didnt show much in the early season but that said the half back combinations and organisation with the rest of the attack was poor and out of sorts. Tim Smith is our general and so prooved to be the case towards the end of the year when we got to know his game and is evident all ready that even with the Leeds game, we are in a much better position so do we want to change it again with another half back pairing ?? With Goulding in and about the side it may be tough for Issac to get back in but hes worth a chance to see if in a much improved attack he goes better now.

Kyle Wood comes across as an impact player off the bench and can act in the halfs or as hooker but his tackling has let him down badly in the past and its my feeling if this side of his game does not/has not improved then for me he doesnt fit much into the team. Other small players in the game such as Robinson, Burrow and Roby are much better players defensively and he needs to work on this.

Kyle Wood did some good things coming off the bench his tackleing could do with a bit of improving but he didnt let the side down at all.

Roby is a good 6 inches taller than Burrow. Don't think you can put them together.

Whoa, whoa whoa!!! Mark Conway?? There was a period under Toppo, where without Mark Conway, we would have been relegated without a doubt. If it didnt go through Mark we didnt score, it was that simple!

Did you not go during the 2011 Tommy Lee & Kieran Hyde season?

Really, don't know how you know this because he played at 9 when he came on - certainly later in the season. So I assume he's the worst Hooker you have ever seen icon_rolleyes.gif

There was a time around 1990 that Mark Conway was man of the match pretty much every week. Every time we were on scrumdown he'd end up getting his award and interviewed, shirt off, in the dressing rooms by David Watkins. It happened so often the running joke joke was there was something going on between them!!

I think he still holds records for most goals in a game too doesn't he? Unless Rooney beat him.
Very good player for us.
"alegend" may have been watching for 55 years but he's been looking the wrong way if you ask me.

Yes, still holds it I think.
I think it was 13 against Highfield in a game around 92/93 where we scored 90 odd points.

I think he does. Rooney took the points in a game record but Conway still holds the kicking record, 13 against Highfield. Remember it well, cold midweek cup game. Andy Wilson scored 5 tries in the first half and I don't think we passed the ball to him once in 2nd!

As far as I remember Henry Oulton played most of the time for us on the wing.
He was there purely for his goal kicking ability.
Willie was mainly a full back who cemented a first team place at Leeds after he left us.
I agree with other posters that Mark Conway was an excellent player for us.
Barney was a trier, never really good enough, but we have had worse.
For example Troutman and the great under achiever Aaron Whittaker.
