I do hope to see more from Southern but from what I've seen in either position so far hasn't been good IMO. The pack seem to have improved no end in his absence. Doesnt that tell you something ?

The teams results have improved without Aiton, would you not play him??
Players play different games. Some try to bust, some are all about getting the easier metres and then getting a quick play of the ball away. 12 meters and an 9 seconds play the ball or 8 meters and a 4 seconds play the ball? Depends where you are on the field but both are required during the course of a game.

Danny Cowling should probably keep his trap shut - if he isn't on his way out now, he could be if he makes a habit of passing on details of confidential club matters to supporters, who go on to repeat it on an internet forum; I can't imagine his fellow professionals being too happy about their salary details being bandied about either.

Here here!Vastman thinks you have to be tall and I would think they are world beaters like Captain Kirke at Leeds which isnt true its technique, leg drive, ability to use your fast twitch muscle fibres quickly etc. Southern gets tackled one on one at prop doesnt that tell vastman something? No he just has to disagree for the sake we have won 3 on the bounce and our forwards have dominated we wouldn't dominate with Southern in END OF. Amor has all of the above Southern hasnt and Johnson is improving.

I did say throw Aiton in the mix. Southern wouldn't get into at least 10 teams in super league on the form he's shown. So why is he good enough for our pack ? Like I said I'd like so see him improve and get another shot at some point but it would be a shame to push out current players while they are doing something he couldn't.

| I agree, i dont see a place in the side for him at the mo as there is no reason to change the side for anybody at the minute. I said earlier that i didnt think we had had good value out of him, but at the same time i really dont see him as an out and out failure and can see what he brings to the side on the occasions when he has played albeit for less minutes than everyone had hoped.
For the record, i would be very surprised if he was one of the top earners, based on where he was playing and the lack of offers on the table to him at the time of signing*
*Please note this is out and out guess work.

| Southern is a good solid tackling second row that has proved himself in the NRL. He has had a poor season as he has been played out of position and got battered and injured as a result. He also appears to have had some personal problems off the pitch which wouldn't help. He deserves another season as a second row to prove what he is capable of. The prop position needs sorting though and we may need to pick up one/two (from Bradford?) if we lose Amor back to Leeds. Good if the rumour about O'Meley is true although who comes off the quota maybe it will be Southern or Issac John?
Mellors has had a poor season and maybe he is more of a winger? Can we really afford to keep him when we have good young wingers coming through?

Bearing in mind I don't think he has actually played any game anywhere other than as a prop - which positions are you comparing????

| Kirmond has been outstanding
Ali is great but won't be playing 80 mins next year
Mariano is good at what he does but has holes in his game
Southern is great at what he does. In the tough games when you need a big defender I'd rather have him playing.

and add to that the fact that he's expensive, i can't help thinking that we've signed a dud.
