Quote ="seal"seems harsh but i hope harlequins do go. RFL pump wasted money into a club that gets no interest or attendence from anyone down there. also take into account their league position. pointless team.
that being said...... they do seem to be producing some good youngsters recently which will probably go to union without a SL club. still think its bye bye time'"
Can you provide evidence that the RFL have pumped money into London RL? How much and when? Where are the articles? Or is this just another regurgitated myth that's not actually true? I think the best you could say is that the RFL have given them a reprieve and let them retain their SL place after they have gone bust before.
I can't help but notice the last time London were in difficulty and the northern clubs tried to cannibalise them their chairmen subsequently did a u-turn and very quickly came round to the idea of a London team in SL. Just speculation on my part, but I'm guessing that they were warned SKY would slash the TV contract with no London in SL. Food for thought, what if Sky did cut the TV contract and we had to reduce Superleague to 12 or 10 teams? Wouldn't that result in more heartland clubs losing their top flight places than they are now anyway?
