39793_1491679334.jpg "Castleford's biggest home crowd of the 1991-1992 season wasn't quite 12,000 while on average they'd sit around 6000 but the noise, the chanting and the singing just blows you away" - Tawera Nikau "Standing Tall"
"I can tell you the atmosphere was extraordinary at Wheldon Road on big days. The ground held around 15,000 people, every one of them close to the action on the field and the noise would be enough to send a rumble through the town" - Malcolm Reilly "Reilly - A Life in Rugby League":d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_39793.jpg |

Instead of praying for our venture to fail why not try to do something productive with your own or else just stop posting on here trying to come over all nicey nice then going to your other board with your snide comments. Wouldn't surprise me if you were part of the plan that tried and failed to ambush the PI yesterday. Sad b'stard'"
Nice!

| Quote: Slugger McBatt "Although I can only go on what I have read on here, I get the impression that it all went well and I can satisfy myself with the thought that we gave it our best shot, and if it isn't approved, it never was going to be. If so, we would have two years to get Belle Vue into a shape that would satisfy the RFL. Without being critical of other grounds, it would be possible to get it to be as good as Craven Park and Odsal and Wheldon Road. If we can't, then that is it for ever, but I feel optimistic.'"
Exactly for me this public inquiry has gone better than expected for us and we are giving this our best shot. Hopefully sense will prevail and Newmarket will get the go ahead. If for some reason it doesn't get past it will not be for the want of trying alot of people can be proud of their efforts.

Ballcocks to being proud of losing! We have shown an overwhelming support for an overwhelming argument for Newmarket to be given a green light. Nothing else will do.
The campaign will then turn towards ensuring delivery of the project.
Still a long way from kick-off in our new stadium, but progress is being made!

I think which ever way it goes, tears will be shed in the Armadillo household! But I remain confident, but not complacent, on which 'type' of tears they will be!

I'm proud of the effort we have put in and I'm confident we will get the green light. As a Trin fan for a number of years I've seen many failed attempts but none of them have gone as far and had the support Newmarket has, this feels like its the one that will finally happen.

| Some disgraceful comments on Casforum, it's a good job that board isn't my total experience of Cas fans.
On the other hand, seems like the PI has gone well and with a bit of luck and a fair wind we should have a new home in 18months!

Most of the occupants of that board are what the phrase 'you can't educate pork' was made for. Thankfully there are more reasonable fans around who aren't as bitter and twisted and understand the the situation BOTH teams are in. Nothing is certain for both teams but also nothing is yet ruled out for either. The picture will be clearer by easter.

It does seem quite strange in comparison to when Saints, Salford and even Hull were having new grounds built. Don't remember any rugby league fan wishing that their projects would fail.

Salford seemed to get some stick, perhaps its more directed to teams who's very futures in the top flight are inextricably linked to a new or improved facilities, meaning the emotions run a little higher.

I don't suppose any of the others were perceived to be directly pitted against their derby rivals in the 'stadium race.' It's clear that the RFL don't want both WTW and Castelford in SL, so the received wisdom is that whichever of us doesn't deliver on the promises made in our franchise applications for 2012-14 will get the boot, never to return.
The stakes are high and as such, there is more than a whiff of desperation in the air.

| There is certainly plenty of fear on both sides. If either Cas or ourselves complete their new stadium and the other club doesn't the perception is that the team without a new stadium will be dropped from SL, not just for a 3 year period, but possibly for eternity.
This fault does not rest with the clubs and their supporters, but with the system.
If we move forward and with the game begining to expand in the Midlands and South of the country, there will inevitably be some changes that will upset clubs in the "heartlands" and there should be open discussion as to the longer term plan for the game as a whole.

since cas is a small part of wakefield, please be advise that you also have two parts and are already incorporated in the "wakefield" bit of the name.
