Quote: kinleycat "The club are already looking into this and possibly a christmas market with ice rink.
A good idea i'd say.'"

eusa_clap.gif Good Car Boots are increasingly popular as most people are skint and it's an easy long term income stream that can be taken to Newmarket. As long as it's well advertised I think it will get a good turn out on a regular basis. The car boots near me have massive turn outs. 200 cars at £9 each is just short of 2k per Sunday morning. If access can be restricted you could charge customers £1 per adult to top up the funds generated with volunteer stewards collecting at access points.

A Xmas market might not drag in bargain hunters and is only a one off and not sure about the gimmic with the ice rink as it'll be costly and might back fire. We have one near us which didn't seem to do that well last Xmas. Need to look a minimum effort and maximum income generators I think.

What about a New Years Eve Family bash!! Food, drink, disco etc for the whole family...If as they say the average family is four you wouldn't need that many of us to exceed over a 1000 (We are 5 strong) and with tickets for other New years Eve party's in the area charging between £50 - £100 per person the club could charge a good bit less and still make a healthy profit.

A mate of mine has just booked somewhere near Leeds because he couldn't find many places in Wakefield that cater for the kids; get the event fly posted and you could soon get the numbers up and of course ensure we take the opportunity to cross sell.

Why not hold a meet the players, get autographs, have a cup of tea with them at the ground on a specific day (not too far away) for everyone who buys a season ticket

You could also have a stall there at the ground with shop items for sale too. Could all be manned by volunteers

Other incentive, hold a raffle for all season ticket purchasers to win a shop voucher or a new shirt, again with a specific day in mind not too far away

These could be used as marketing tools when people are ring up last years season ticket holders

Another idea

Why not organise a sportsman dinner with guest speakers (ask them to donate their services) Neil fox, Peter fox, Barry McDermott, terry o Connor etc, and other celebrities there. Again waiters/ waitresses could be volunteers and help run the bar

Why not ask other clubs for signed balls / shirts which could be auctioned to raise money

Why not pinch some of the ideas that Bradford used when they were raising money

Why not ask Jamie peacock if he has any more rings to donate for auction

Why not ask some of our former stars like Neil fox, Rocky Turner, Harold Poynton, etc if they have any memorabilia which could be auctioned

And one of our biggest assets, particularly with the younger end of the supporters, must be the players themselves

Can't we use them in the close season to help raise money by attendance/ autograph signing etc at various events

Conundrum, you seem to like to think volunteers are the way forward, I take it you'll be putting your name forward!

As daddy cool says the players are having a well deserved break before training starts at the end of November so we won't be using them yet. He did say we will look into using them more through the season though

Gladly. In South of England at present, but when I return. Hope you will join me too

I don't believe that volunteers are the way forward in everything. There is always a concern for those who have lost their jobs, but in the situation the club is in, it may be one way forward

However, I would rather focus on the ideas rather than get sidetracked on the methodology

We have been asked to try and come up with some moneymaking ideas which may be helpful to the club. Whether volunteers are used is another thing but it would increase the generation of money, rather than having to pay money out

I've put my name forward a few weeks back regarding helping with fundraising and have done a (roughly) ten year voluntary stint with SWAG. HTH icon_wink.gif

The reality with these, and all the ideas raised is that they need manpower to make them a reality.

I'm sure there will be some discussion / reflection over the ideas raised, but there are more demanding issues at the club right now and many / most of these ideas will come into their own over the medium to long term, where deemed appropriate!

Keep 'em coming! eusa_clap.gif

MAJOR NEW FUNDRAISING INITIATIVE

Now you can raise money for club funds by doing your online shopping through our own website!!!

It really isn't as daft as it sounds!

Found this that another sports club is doing....

We have created a page of all your favourite online stores, including Amazon, ASDA, Argos, John Lewis, Expedia, Sainsbury's, Boots, M&S, PC World and many more.

Simply by accessing these from our club pages we earn commission on all your purchases. You don't pay a penny more, but the club can earn thousands per year with your help.

Buying a Kindle from Amazon? If you go to Amazon via our Club Cashback shop, Amazon will be able to tell. And because the club shop 'referred you', they donate a percentage of whatever you spend back to us.

It really is that simple. We're not asking you to use specific retailers, all we ask is when you shop online, please go via our shop and you can help us raise much needed funds this season.

There is no catch. You won’t have to sign up or be asked for any details whatsoever. You really are helping the club by doing no more than you were going to do anyway!

Have a look to see if your next online purchase can be made through our cashback page here www.pitchero.com/clubs/chewvalley/cashback/

Not a bad idea. However, this IS NOT affiliated to WTW...Sorry but had to get that one in; your message implies this will help us at present (to me anyhow).

Sorry got you now the correct link however is on the club website!!

Some great ideas reading through the thread,

The company i work for recently (a couple of months back)hired a board room/ meeting room in the ground for 2 hours (As there were no where else available to hold a sizeable meeting) - The first choices where Holiday inn, Ceador court and Days hotel - all charging around £300 for just a few hours ! - It was only when someone mentioned a previous meeting held at the ground a couple of years ago that the club was contacted to book the room. i also know that they have previously held events to promote business as i have myself attended product demonstration there - I think marketing this with businesses around Wakefield (and surrounding areas) and letting them know that the club is available to hold events and meetings wwould be a great way of generating money.

Hello, yes I know easy fundraising.org is on there as it was me that suggested it 2/3 weeks ago before it was on the WTW Website. It's nice to see the club responding to our suggestions (although had no feedback) but I saw the latest link that I submitted yesterday which I thought was an even better more user friendly quicker way of purchasing items through them and contributing to WTW finances.

Hope they also pick up on my car boot idea which is another easy income stream with the help of volunteers. Done at Chesterfield FC with similar size fan base and charge £10 per car. Space for 150 cars per Sunday morning!
