I think we showed some positive signs and the ref killed is in the first half.

We were our own worst enemy in the second half, from 15 minutes on in the second we imploded. 5 or 6 errors on the bounce starting with Lynn running into touch on the first.

We just couldn’t complete a set and gave away a penalty in that period and in cost us as you cannot keep inviting sides to attack you and not expect to pay the price.

Reece Lynn needs dropping , looks more interested in his testimonial. Then we play our best centre in the second row

The ball did seem to die with him everything. Hall and Langi centres.

Thought we were really going to do something then but we just made silly errors that got them field position.

I thought our 4 props all played well. I thought Proctor did a boat load of work in first half and really hurt them in the tackle.
A lot of the kicking game was OK for me. The chase not as great. We kicked down the middle to stop the big returns from the wingers and forced some errors, but we just gave it straight back to them.

Fielding kicks apart from Max was aweful but giving them the field position to get there was the problem.
First try was perfect. Really good play.

It wasn't one player but Smith made some terrible errors when we were looking to get back in the game. Really cost us in the end.

Out thought out fought , and out enthused , and were a yard faster and more intense in all facets of the game . Poor kick options, lynne getting dragged into touch on the first tackle was criminal and a turning point I thought .Couldn’t see clearly what happened for their first try but it looked like a howler in defence as were a few more besides. Plenty of work in both attack and defence for the trip to Wigan required urgently. Positives , butler ran it in like a steam train and they all looked ok injury wise . Disappointed to let that one go by sloppy errors at crucial times and a failure to exert pressure of the oppositions line .Hopefully they now know where they need to be and can work on it .

After Gaskell scored we got the momentum. A high kick we get the ball back a six against Reece takes it towards the touchline and got bundled into touch. After that we were never in we couldn't complete a set and we're pretty awful. In the first half how we didn't deal with the kick they scored off in the right corner looked poor. Every time we got on the front foot we scored sadly we put ourselves on the back foot too easily with absolute basic errors. Yet again with Grant the Dragons were able to slow us right down on the other hand I thought he let us have it when we tried to slow it down. That said some of our mistakes and lose passes were comical. We put the points on a plate tonight!

Any Decent teams find the corners with their kicks, Penrith and St’s tomorrow morning will showcase that. Our kicking game was absolutely garbage, sorry but that’s why we were struggling to get out of our 40

Think its going to be one hell of a long season ahead if tonights anything to go on, catalan were missing alot of key players tonight and still out played us in every department.but lets be honest we struggled last season and we are so much weaker this season(, 12 players out 4 in course your gonna be) hoped but mash may add a bit of somthing different and i still hope he does but up to now nothing changed same old issues.

Surprised at the negativity tonight. I thought that Catalans performance was very much of a team that will be up in the top 4 this season. They were strong down the middle and played with high intensity. That said, I didn't think we played that badly. The 2nd Johnstone try was a clear knock on. They scored four/five tries from kicks and I don't think they made a single line break. Although they won the metre battle and territory I felt our defence was generally good from a contact perspective but we kept turning the ball over in silly areas second half which gave them ample opportunity to post points. We scored every time we got within their twenty which bodes well and thought we looked good attacking wise in that respect.

Disappointing thing for me was we still haven't learned how to defend kicks and we need to learn how to manage a game and when to twist. Lyne getting pushed into touch when we would have been in their twenty was a killer when trailing by two points and Lino trying to offload in his own half on tackle 3 when within 2 points. You've got to be smarter than that and not panic. We could have just completed and tried to put the pressure on them not to make an error but instead we began chasing a game far too early that we didn't have to. Catalans were a physical side and I think aaprt from saints and maybe warrington we won't come up against another team that strong down the middle.

Thought Pitts, Gaskell and Butler did well. Not sure about the kicking game of our halves mind. Think that could be a weakness for us this season.

On tonight’s performance it looks it could be.
I was disappointed with our speed tonight Catalan were far quicker and pushed us back time and again . That needs fixing and fast .
Half backs for me in next game would be Smith and Lino.
I don’t blame Lineham for Johnstone’s tries but I think Kershaw or Tafua in his place. Oh, and we could try setting a move up to get the ball to Murphy.

There’s some really good posts on here that sums the evening up for me.
Thought Catalan duffed us up with the physical/ wrestling side to their game.
Mistakes here and there stopped us gaining any real momentum during the game, I think we scored to get us back to 16:18 then forced the error only for recce to be slung into touch. Shortly after we managed 3 mistakes more or less on the halfway line, meaning we conceded too much territory ,and it was during this time that I thought the game slipped away from us.
Thought we were game though but need to cut the errors out..if we want to give ourselves a chance of winning matches.

If Tafua can't show enough form to get picked ahead of Lineham or Kershaw, then we should be asking why have we brought him over (presumably on a decent wage) just to sit on the side lines. Pointless signing or a player out of form, I wonder which it is ?

The lads were obviously playing against a better side on the night, but credit to them they stuck at it, and until they made a spate of errors mid second half, they were still in with a shout.(although they never looked like winning).Need to have some sort of strategy with the kicking, not just kicking straight into FB's hands every time. They also learnt a harsh lesson tonight,(again!),you'll never win games with an error count like that, you've got to build pressure!
