| Are you all happy with agar now? I think he'll be better at a smaller club with less pressure and expectation on him

we haven't finished Bottom and we never will
The difference is that in my opinion Jon Kear was a good coach who got the best out of players when it was needed.
I am not slagging Trinity off so don't understand why everyone is calling me an idiot just for thinking Agar is Rubbish.
In my opinion he is an underachiever. If Wakefield underachieve there is only one position they will finish.

| Are we happy with RA as our new head coach?
Well let's look at the detail a bit more, without getting into which applicant is which.....
More than one of the 'favourites' didn't apply.
One applied and was interviewed and was felt to want 'too much control' - which I think was a reference to having a say in the Academy structures which are already one of the best in the game.
One was interviewed out of courtessy.
One was interviewed but was deemed to be 'inexperienced'
One was interviewed but it was felt that his heart wasn't in it.
Of the candidates available, RA was deemed to be the bext choice for our club. He is right there in terms of the length of time gaining experience in coaching - this should be his 'prime time'. He knows the amateur scene around here well. He is well liked and respected by the players. He needs to improve his media work - but that is not the measure of a great coach. He has worked in a very 'controlling' environment in his last position.
Finally, and for me this is enough, people who know far more about these things than I do are telling me and others that this is good appointment; that he knows his job and will fit in well and work with colleagues well.
Finally, finally.... I am told that it is only due to the arrival of new owners at Hull that RA became available and that at the time of the Supporters Trust meeting RA had not applied for the post nor was he on the initial short list, but the club must run with the best opportunities presented to it - and RA is our best opportunity.
I have only held back from the season ticket offer due to credit card months, but I have no question about buying one (or 4) and I fully expect a rejuvenated team and club to be winning more games than we lose at BV next year and to see some of the current under 20's progressing into more regular first team football. After the trials and tribulations of this season, now is not the time to be bailing out - in fact now is the time to get on board as we set sail on the next adventure!

That's your opinion, fine.
Why don't you save this thread and come back to it this time next year and we'll see how close we came to finishing bottom. I will say now I have no doubts that we WILL NOT finish bottom next year.
You don't rate Agar, that's fine.
I don't rate a set of players who won't show commitment to the cause and play for whatever coach.
You blame Agar for your failure to achieve what you should have over recent years, I blame a set of players who weren't willing to do whatever it took to play better. You have some seriously experienced players and have had for several seasons, if they can't do it for themselves then they have to shoulder some of the responsibility.
See you next September when you're back with an apology

Hang on a minute bud,I never heard of one Hull player not wanting to play for Agar,in fact Ogre blew a gasket at seeing an Agar out banner.Radford has also publicly stood Agar`s corner. Some of Agar`s tactics and rotations were baffling at times to say the least.I would suggest if you had sat through this last four years of agony ,you would maybe understand.I have nothing whatsoever against the bloke,I truly wish him all the best at Wakey.

It will certainly be interesting to see what happens at Hull next season; given the absolute conviction that many Hull fans have that all of their woes can be laid solely at Richard Agar's door, it's to be hoped that Mr Gentle gets results and fast.
How long do you anticipate his honeymoon period will be, if he gets one at all?

If you want the truth,he will be given a bit of time before some start whinging, but in fairness Agar had most fans saying give him a chance at the beginning, but it all went tits up at the end.Unfortunatly the buck stops at the coaches / managers door of any team.

I expect most fans will give Gentle at least a season, which is far less time than most gave Agar. It wasn't until his first 3 seasons excuses ran out that most fans turned

I think there's an attitude that seems endemic amongst a certain section of the Hull faithful that will make life virtually impossible for the HC, whoever that happens to be.
Time will tell.

I said it earlier in the thread, and I'll repeat it: the people who won't buy a season ticket for £100 because of Agar are mugs. It makes no logic, because one of two things will happen.
He will struggle, but you will still go along, because it's what you do. In your sixth game at Belle Vue, you are paying extra for something you are not enjoying, but it might take more than six games to realise it's not so good. My sixth game will be free, because I've only paid £100. If it's dross, it will be free dross.
He will do okay or well. In which case, you will go to even more games, and then you'll be paying extra for your sixth, seventh, eighth and more game. It will be good, and for me, even better, because it will be free quality.
So either way, it makes no sense not to buy. In fact, "It will be dross, but it will be free dross" would be a good advertising campaign. I'll pass it on to Andrew..........
