| Heard this was happening last week and have to say i'm quite annoyed with this one. I reckon he's got a good future ahead of him and to lose him thanks to a derisory offer is poor business. Wouldn't be surprised if Shaw is next.

| Quote PopTart="PopTart"It's a loss but not a massive one. It all depends on who we bring in and who develops out of academy.
I like him and was happy with him in the team but he's 4th choice at best.
We've lost 3 props but that means we have the opportunity to get 3 great props in.
Let's see what Willie can do.'"
He’s 21 years old and has almost 30 top flight games under his belt, he’s way ahead of most 21 year old prop forwards and will get better and better over the next 3 or 4 years.
Not securing his signature on a long term contract is a mistake and betrays the attitude toward home produced players. If he were a 21 year old being signed from the NRL we’d be offering him more money and a decent length of term contract.
It doesn’t matter who we sign, letting Yusuf slip away is a mistake

| Turned down an offer from Leeds to go to KR.
I think he is a real loss to the club if I’m honest however he has to do what is best for him both financially and for his career development and sadly he thinks that is elsewhere.
Looks like Taylor will be joining to play 13 next year. I think Aydin could have been a regular fixture in that role for the club for a long time to come.
Sad to see him go I’ve no doubt he will go on to have a very solid career as a SL player.

| Quote MOPSEY LIVES ON="MOPSEY LIVES ON"correct he's not a massive loss, he's a massive prospect who will hopefully mature and come through. Making a decision on a 21 year old prop is a tough one when most props come into their own in their mid 20s. Hall and Murphy to me a still great prospects who I hope keep improving, the next season is another chance to kick on and let's hope there is no second season syndrome'"
I agree with you. Clubs take a gamble with all young players, it’s a judgement call. HKR clearly were willing to pay more, must be much more if it covers the cost of petrol these days.
Personally I think he has the makings of a solid SL player. I guess you could say that about Shaw. Eseh has the potential to be spectacular but it’s still a massive gamble. All the same clubs will be sniffing around bothe so the money for the young props obviously doesn’t split three ways.
It’s a shame but even Saints can’t keep them all.

Could you be more OTT.
Let’s visit this again in a few years time and see who got it right and who got it wrong.
Il tell you now the odds are not in your favour as this forum tends to get it phenomenally wrong most of the time.
I’ll ask again though I never get an answer from the experts.
Give me a list of these players we have lost who are now storming SL. Won’t take you long.

What’s OTT about it?
He’s one of the better young prop forwards to emerge in SL over the last 2 or 3 years and we should have secured him on a contract rather than letting him slip away.

| Disappointed but not gutted.
I'm more annoyed at the lack of loyalty, but money talks.
let's see who the replacements for these departing players are and let's hope there is some sort of announcement soon.

I agree.
It's all good and well asking for examples of where this player has done X,Y or Z.
There might be no examples. But as I see it, living on the past doesn't make up for a potential* mistake in the present.
* Aydin is now the author of his own destiny. But with hard work - I genuinely think he can progress to play internationally.

Quote Prince Buster="Prince Buster"Hull KR dont run an acadamy and with signings like these I can see their logic. We invest the money producing the players and they step in and pick them up when they are ready for first team. By all accounts they also had to offer very little to beat the offer we made to him.'"
Rovers do run an academy. I’m probably one of the most equivocal Rovers fans, regarding the benefits it has/will offer in terms of return on investment, but it definitely exists. This announcement was met with much (tbf, justified) joy.

Had some decent results as the season has gone on. Not the point, I know, but gives a bit of hope. Hull FC have the league table on their website.

Interesting see everybody’s thoughts on Aydin, and Batchelor when he was announced. There’ll be an element of these deals having been agreed when you looked like you might be relegated, I suspect. That knackered our recruitment and retention for a while, until relegation was binned off early in 2020 with the pandemic.

| We will see how they get on, obviously their valuation of themselves and our valuation of them are not the same. It is true, can’t think of that many players that have left us to go onto bigger better things. I have faith in the club to make the right decisions within the budget we have.
It’s going to go one way or another, we will either be stronger or weaker next year, WP has a blank canvas but not a blank cheque book. We are late to the party in regards to now been able to guarantee contracts, but who’s to say that said players have been waiting in the wings. MC has stated before the phone never stops with agents all over the world proposing players. Let’s see what they can do. For every Miller there is a Cust or Croft struggling to get a game.

| Had a bit of time away from the forum recently but can’t believe vastman has now become the voice of reason on here!
Yes, I’d have liked to have kept Aydin as he’s come through the system and he’s improving all the time but let’s not kid ourselves that it’s a major loss!
Who was it again who switched off for their try last night?
Not wanting to knock the lad but if he wants to take a better offer elsewhere then so be it….it’s not as if we didn’t offer him a deal…
Would much prefer to give bigger improved contracts to Hall and Murphy who are miles ahead and much more worthy of improved offers than Aydin is.

Yes and also left a gap the size of a bus for Warrington at home for a forward to steam through untouched I recall. He certainly has a lot to work on.
