| I'd suggest it was more to do with alliteration and nothing at all to do with what Cas were doing.
By that logic, it reduces your 8 million options by a fair few doesn't it...?

| Quote Tigerade="Tigerade"I remember when Trinity re-branded to the cartoon cat - was it about 1999? - the response from Tigers supporters was that it was a copy of our badge and there was even a ridiculous theory that by Wakey using a feline mascot (similar to ours) it was another attempt at a merger of the 2 clubs. I mean if you are going to have to pick an animal you could have avoided picking one of the big/medium cat species - there is another 8 million animal species to choose from.'"
Wildcats are not a big cat species and are not medium sized either.

Not sure if you're trying to be helpful or not but what Cas Tigers fans think, now or in the past, on this matter is pretty irrelevant. Thank you.

The moniker was added as part joining in the spirit of Super League. If I remember rightly various names were suggested by fans as part of a Wakey Express/Trinity completion. Didn't something like Wakefield Trinity "Tornados" come a close 2nd?

Bren - alliteration doesn't come into it. Wakey didn't have to pick a moniker beginning with W (e.g. Leeds Rhino's and Castleford Tigers).

| They didn't have to.....but that's why they did.
Pretty big Cas ego to think it was to do with them.

I could be wrong but when all these names were being added, weren't Cas going to go with Cougars but Keighley beat them to it?
Someone has mentioned that some clubs don't need gimmicks, like Saints, if owt they have gone the other way.
They had one of the most iconic badges, until I think copyrighting got in the way and it was going to cost too much to carry on.

| I can't remember the Cougars link to Cas TBH although I always thought Panthers would have been good but we already have an amateur team called Cas Panthers.
I think you are right there about Saints - similar to both the Hull clubs with the iconic badges.

Hull did have a stint as the Sharks but lost that name when the merged Gateshead/Hull company was dissolved. There used to be a guy (Hull KR fan) forever posting letters in the RL press saying that the current Hull FC is a new club and that the original one (who's badge and date of birth are still in use)no longer exists.
