| He played a good half hour last week against a very strong wind, thought he went ok, last night i thought he was very good but even better was agars timing on the introduction of Wood, he got that one spot on

I cant believe that you think his performance was anything other than poor. Yep he did run the ball in hard and looked for work but his errors in defense were utterly terrible. Your view is akin to reviewing a resteraunt by saying the starter and main were fine although i was a little disappointed to find a turd in my triffle.

| I don't know what Fox was playing at trying to defend that 1st Hall try? Sinfield put across a poor kick that Hall took above his head but Fox appeared to run past him and slip, leaving a clear run to the line. Hall almost repeated the act later in the game, with Fox over running and slipping again, but lost control of the ball.
Credit to Wood, he did have a good spell when he came on. I remember Brent Todd once breaking a tackle though!
Collis was our weakest link but the try just gave him some save face. He even got pushed into touch by Rob Burrow at one point.

| Think it's quite obvious Collis is not fully fit, the man has class written all over him. Needs a good off season and come back fully fit.
Thought Ellis went really well his distribution is excellent.
As for the wingers, the position is becoming more and more crucial as they get somewhat isolated, BOTH our wingers are prone to make the wrong decisions on the other hand both are pretty high in the meters gained chart.
Take a big positive out of all this, one interception and three tries from kicks, our defence was'nt too bad was it!!!!

| At the start of the season I said Agar should be given a fair chance and he's doing fine. Keep up the good work Shergar.

Here's my theory , the up turn in form and our forwards suddenly looking stronger and fitter could be linked to the inclusion of Ellis in the side. We look far more organised around PTB and the way we are moving forward.'"
You are reaching for something there. Just admit that Agar got the tactics right and the players are playing to a good system that has taken some time to get going.

Or Fox was up against one of the best wingers in the world at taking a kick (high or low) and scoring. He did well at somethings and got beaten at others.
But you look for the negatives if it makes you feel better.

| Is it really all negative to state facts about Foxs and even Mathers perfromances at points .. the guys have international honours ... I think a lot of us expect a bit more consisitnecy of performance - certaintly in defence - considering what that 10 minute spell did to most of our finger nails..
Fox was indeed up against one of the best wingers in the world but I agree that his positioning for each of Halls two efforts from King Kevs kicks - wasn't up to scratch.
The first kick was utter garbage... Fox doesnt even look at the ball and runs past Hall .. who literally catches the ball and trots over Fox hardly laying a finger. Same with Mathers... Hall is huge, athletic but its a damn sight easier for him if you dont even leave the ground to contest the ball.
Fox showed what he can do at the other end with a very well taken try but needs to polish up on the defence - as do a number of our threequarters in my opinion (Collis).
Still Leeds got whopped in the end

Will reserve judgement on Agar for a little longer.Although credit where credit is due,the performance against Leeds was very good, maybe our next couple of fixtures will be a good indicator as to whether Monday night was a flash in the pan or not.
Fox made some good yards and took his try extremely well, but even the player himself would have been dissappointed at his own defence on the kicks,Agar certainly showed his displeasure with his defence on the third one.
I thought Tim Smith was very impressive in that after Fox had made a few errors,Fox still came looking for the ball and Smith seemed eager to give him it,showing a good team spirit.

| Quote: bren2k "Collis hasn't been fully fit since the early part of the season - even busted, it's clear he's a quality player; I reckon he'll shine for us next season.
We've been unlucky with the Southern situation and he's been mis-used - again, I think he'll go well next year, if he's still with us.
The jury is out on Mellars - I don't think he's done what he seemed to be capable of at Crusaders, but I'll grant that he's been played out of position; personally, I wouldn't dislodge Fox or Cockayne in favour of him, so a bit of a quandary.
I'm not sure what the future holds for Isaac John - he showed a lot of potential, but with a settled pairing of Sykes and Smith, he'd spend next season doing pretty much what he's done for the last couple of months.'"
my point was perhaps a wider one. of the imports that we have, aiton has been the standout one. the others have been patchy, with by far the best of the bunch being smith in the last two/three months. the only one that agar recruited was aiton, so hats off to him there on player judgement as he's scored a 100% success rate there, as opposed to elston who's come good with smith and not so well with Collis (admit the fitness issue), Southern, Mellars and John to date.
i don't share jack in the box's view just yet that ellis has dramatically improved our side, i don't think he's had the game time to prove that at the moment.

| I agree it is not negative to point out errors or talk about something a player did wrong. What I was picking up on was that some people ONLY look at the negative.
If Fox did some good things and some bad things then that is even not bad. If he is up against the best, and the other guy gets some good breaks and tries then of course hall in this case won that battle, but i don't think Fox had a bad game. He did a lot good and when he was put on the spot he did some things bad and some things not as well as Hall. (Not the same thing)
I'm not just looking at the positive either. I realise we have weaknesses under the high ball. BUT I do think our wingers do their best. And that deserves credit.

| I thought ellis made good yards from dummy half, was eager for work, and distributed well.A lot of people have bagged agar i'm one, but what a difference a solid go forward pack made.Johnson and mariano had big games and they have struggled to get a regular slot which i think have frustated the faithful as they were ok last season.I hope he sticks with these guys, now let's kick on and have a solid run in without too much tinkering.
