Billy has not had his eye removed though he is still to possibly undergo further surgery at St. James hospital on his return from Exeter where the accident happened.He is on his way home now and goes into St. James tomorrow . There will be a bucket collection at Normantons first team game at home tomorrow ko 2.30 and all raffle takings from junior fixtures played this weekend will be donated to Billy and his family. The race night has been put back to sat 31st oct though the auction at the comrades will go ahead as planned on fri 9th oct. Everyone is welcome .'"

| Just spoke to Billy,he's been to hospital this morning,got one of the country's best surgeons operating on his eye on tuesday in the hope that the eye can be saved,if not the eye will be taken out and replaced with a "marble",apparently this is to make sure the other eye is not affected.He expects to be in three or four days.
He seems perky enough bless him. |

| Got a text from him yesterday evening,had an op on tuesday,has to go back to Jimmys next wednesday and needs 2 or 3 more op's before they know for sure either way,lose an eye or not.  |

The evening was a great success and very well attended. Quite a few ex players came along to support the event, namely, JT, Jason Timmins, Gary Spencer, Nigel Wright, Phil Eden and Richard Slater who helped organise the evening. (Sorry if I missed anyone off).
Unfortunately we can't announce how much was raised as at another fund raising do some busy body reported the takings to the DSS who decided to take the money in to account when calculating what benefits they were entitled to.
Many thanks to all who helped make the evening and a big thanks to Mr Mojo Risin and Alex of Doom on here for their donations, both items went down very well.
The next event will be at Normanton Rugby Club on 14 November where we will be holding a race night. All are welcome.
