| Of the new(ish) rumours, Kirke could be a decent addition - looked like one of the few Leeds players on Saturday who actually gave a toss and is probably hungry for regular first team action.
Can't see any mileage in McShane - he's a decent player, but surely we don't need another hooker?
I also don't see a place for Lyne - I'd rather see Cowling get a regular start at centre, with Mellars pushed out to the wing.

| I can only assume that at 19 Lyne is seen as younger and cheaper cover in the backs than Dale Morton & Motu Tony. Agar must see something in him if the rumour is true.
As for Kirke, i don't rate him one bit. He isn't any better than anything we already have and will be 31 by next season. No thanks.
Mixed feelings on Mason. Never grew out of his habit of giving needless penalties away and still is always liable to a knock on. But on his day he's a good prop and doesn't take a backward step so we could do worse.
O'Meley would be a good signing, exactly the kind of impact prop we lack. Would need one of our overseas players to depart though.
Solomona? Not needed end of story. Unless we are starting a man verses food competition.
And the last position we need to look at it hooker so McShane is surely a no as well.

| Is Kirke really that old???
If you got that from Wiki...it seems a bit of a parody, saying "Ian's personal life has not been without controversy, in 2009 he was romantically linked to the American actress Lindsay Lohan, although this was subsequently denied by Lohan's PR team by way of a statement saying "Lindsay has never heard of Ian Kirke and is unaware of the game of rugby".

It is wrong, he's already 31. Will be 32 on boxing day.

| Our quota players need to be the ones that are first on the team sheet if as I assume they tend to be on the most expensive contracts.
Players like Tim Smith, Ali Lauitiiti, Paul Aiton and Dean Collis....... I'm sure Richard Agar knows this and will make a couple of more shrewd signings in the next couple of months that will add to the strength of the starting 17 who are playing out of their skins at the minute. He knows we had some problems at prop and could do with an impact prop like Justin Poore, Asotasi, Russell Packer or Fui Fui Moimoi who are out of contract & the first is being courted by SL clubs.

| I can see the logic in Lyne signing if we're not to retain Mathers thus moving Smith or Cockayne to fullback, Mellars back in three quarters and Lyne as back up.
McShane isn't going to happen, we've a surplus in hookers and he'd be lucky to get a game all season.
Personally Kirke would be a decent signing as a fringe player which I'm guessing he'd be, possibly to replace Johnson?
Solomona is done! Plus why would you want him when you've Lautiti? Every team has to have a balance and I think right now we've hot it right.

| I like the idea of mason coming back,
We need another prop, perhaps 2 if Amor doesn't stay, mason will do that job nicely for me, He's hard as nails and really does take the ball with some pace hitting the line as hard as any one in SL for me, he's English and at his age as a prop is at his peak
I'd be happy with sol coming back too, those that say he's spent need to wake up, he may not be as fit as he was but there are few players out there with hands as good as Solomona, defo a risk worth taking IMO

| Solo was fantastic for Wakefield. Instead of concentrating on signing players we need to get Mariano signed up young british second rower 4 men in the tackle this guy has only had 2 seasons of SL experience. Props are the main area I like Mason he would do us fine and O meley if Amor goes. Reece Lyn is 19 years old give this kid some training bulk him up a bit why not ? Would rather have him than Mellars.

Punctuated so that I could understand what you are trying to say.
Solomona WAS fantastic but we have that type of player in Lauititi (who is much fitter than we would ever get Solomona).
Mariano I agree with, he runs good lines and has good pace and power. Definitely worth another contract IMO.
Not convinced by Mason, he makes too many mistakes for me but it would depend on what the prop situation is, if Amor does leave then we do need 2 props so he would do a job for us. Although I'd question whether he offers anything more than Matt James would if actually given a chance to play.
O'Meley would need to prove his fitness for me, but again would be a good signing if we could get him fit and injury free.
Reece Lyne - haven't really seen much of him so difficult to comment personally but I'd rather Cowling was first in line for a Centre berth than a new signing that fans of his current club don't really rate.

| One thing that springs to mind on this is that we don't need wholesale changes. Which is quite refreshing for Wakefield.
But with that in mind it has to be considered that we have a large squad with no one over £100,000 a year (quoted from Elston)
If we suddenly go and buy players that are over that amount they need to be clearly worth it. Buying O'Meley, I can only imagine but I do imagine that he is a big earner. If Tim Smith is not on the big money I imagine he wouldn't be pleased with that unless O'Meley was blasting holes in every defense we play. At the moment I don't see that.
I'd rather next season was another consolidating season but just consolidating at the mid table level rather than aiming for No.1 in patches.
The spirit in the camp at the moment is something that should be valued and we should be working hard to keep it.
If we are buying world class players and/or leaders then great. If we are buying players that have been good and we are taking a risk on them I think we already have that in Smith, Smith and Lauatiti. Good as they are, I want to build around them rather than on top of them and push them out.
Big boss prop yes. Slice off the bottom quality level players yes. Buy British with potential yes
Buy has beens who might still have another year in him no. (Unless he's the Big Boss Prop maybe )

I can see Amor being that prop in the future, so I hope we're pushing the boat out to see off the arrogant lover from Dull FC on his quest to buy success.
Other than that, I tend to agree - we need evolution, not revolution.

Damn! Wish I'd used that as my last line now!

| Solomona - no thanks think hes past it now and so must Warrington or they would have had him signed up.
Mariano - yes we need to keep him.
Mason - not sure to be honest that he would offer anything better than James.
OMelley - if fit would be a good player to have but has to be season long fit.
Lyne - do we need him as already have Mellars who when all said and done did well at Crusaders on the wing.
To be honest I dont see the point in signing Lyne after the way Cowling played in his first outing and though the lad still has a lot to learn he had a good debut. You could see he has the talent to kick on and get better.

So does signing Reece Lyne mean no Jordan Grayston , What next Jack Briscoe instead of Danny Cowling Jack Pickerill instead of Matty Wildie , and Liam McAVOY instead of Adam Gledill . Looks like they will all have to follow others of our own who have had to follow another path e g Greg Eaden and George Griffin
