Brough & Widdop should have been the halves but now we're stuck with Chase at scrum half. Let's hope that McNamara comes into a little sense in the next few days and puts Widdop in at stand off.
There's no place for Sinfield, top class football teams can't carry a traditional ball playing loose forward any more it's now three back rowers who carry the ball strongly and tackle all day.
Carvel has to come onto the bench.'"
I agree entirely about Sinfield never really rated him and i also agree about Carvell. For me if Chase has to play it would be him at 6 and DB at 7. DB can control a game in very much the same was as Danny Orr which allows Chase to be the running 6 he does so well. Ideally it would be DB at 7 and GW at 6 but that aint gonna happen whilst Steve McNamara is in charge.

| Chase was the nearest man to both of the French tryscorers for the last two tries. Expect lots of tries down the right over the next month. And off the cuff stuff is too risky at international level.
Don't mind Read too much, despite the accent. He was born here and so I presume has English parents as well. Chase has just chased the nearest international shirt.
And Tomkins is a better six than Sinfield. Can't comment on Widdop as not seen him at six, but Tomkins of last year was better than the Sinfield of this.
Think of it this way: at Ellan Road on November 19th, you get to see Lockyer's last game and a haka.

| got bored with the game and end up throwing the ball around the house for the dogs,
woeful game maybe due to the opposition but England just sat back as if they didn't seem interested and allowed the frogs back in
Reed took his try well but just looked sluggish
pleased to see Ellis look strong as usual

reason why the national anthem wasn't played was they didn't know whether to play waltzing Matilda the haka or god save the queen, if Broughy had played you could added I'll take the high road
you are English not a hybrid Antipodean European
in fact I'd rather put a card cut of Sam Burgess on the field if he wasn't fit to play

the English choice is a joke we just don't have the strength in depth and after a heavy season and some players suffer the knocks we haven't enough to replace them.
we have to revert back to the Great British Lions to have even the slightest of chances
France water boys

| The blame lays fairly and squarely with the RFL for appointing a coach who other than at junior level failed in every position he held ! As a result we have to watch his desperate attempts to paper over the cracks and hide his failings, the team suffers his bizarre selections and our International reputation slides further into the mire.My big question is,when his charmed tenure comes to a inevitable end who replaces him and will the replacement have the guts to undo the damage thats already been done ? Also will the RFL allow him to ?

| That was a predictably uninspiring performance - if there are cobwebs to be blown off or some bedding in of new partnerships or whatever, it all needs to happen sharpish, because the Aussies and Kiwi's will rip that team to pieces.
As for Chase, you'd have thought that given all the palaver surrounding his selection he'd have found it within himself to actually give a , but alas not - he put in his usual 'go missing for large swathes of the game' stint and had little or no influence on the game; for me, he's the definition of a big fish in a small pond and I suspect that why he stays at Cas - he'd never get away with only playing for half a game at a club like Wigan, Wire or Leeds.
Was anyone else a bit embarassed when the post-match interviews with 'English' players both had foreign accents?

Or maybe he wouldn't get a visa if he tried to go elsewhere, like Latu, due to his summer conviction.
I can live with the centre in the side, because he was born here and so will have English parents, an English extended family, and will have been brought up with the idea that England is his heritage.
It's ego time now for McNamara, and we've seen this before with international coaches. Does he concede now that he tried it and it didn't work out, that he went missing for a large part of the game, that two French attackers ran past him for tries as if he wasn't there, with not even an effort to tackle him, and so the loss is that he has to play an intried half-back team in the first real game (thankfully, against Wales)? Or will he do what they always do, keep playing Chase and Sinfield in the hope it works eventually and he can take the plaudits?
But it won't work eventually.
