With players at Leeds who, are tried and tested, year in, year out, to be so much better than at JK's disposal at Wakefield.

I'm with Snatchy on this one...........

Wiilie was in charge of the Leeds under 20`s, we put 56 past them, Warrington racked up 90 odd. Considering the players, money etc available at Leeds does not make me think he would be a wise choice.

You are not being serious here are you? The players at Melbourne would be from a far stronger structured training regime than we can offer currently - so yes, they would be much better than the ones available to Wakefield.

Willie as an assistant coach - yes. Willie as head coach - hell no!

Poaching would be a good appointment as an assistant coach but i think that he isn't ready to be a head coach yet.

I couldn't tell if notagain was being serious about Melbourne so I didn't bother replying!

As for Willie....I will say this much about him. Quite simply one of the BEST players ever to wear a Wakey shirt in Super League - that is FACT!

get a grip. So we dont have a strong structered training regime. That answer is the exact reason we are in this mess. No ambition or willingness to take the club in the right direction. We have a full time squad and coaching staff, so we need a professional structured coaching and training regime. Yes we dont have the same players so we wont get the same results, but we will play to our potential and players will improve. Our training facilities are fine we just dont invest enough in making sure our coaching standards meet that of what we expect from our players. Players who leave our club often say they learnt nothing under the current coaching regime that is fact. When justin morgan took over at hull kr he had no professional coaching experience, he came from france and look what he has done. Cummings or poaching would be light years ahead having spent a long time with a successful team. fact is we dont have the money to get a big name coach in so why not give a chance to an up and coming coach ala poaching as wigan have done. All coaches are assistants for a while then they are given a chance why is that so hard to understand, if you open your eyes and see we cant afford what you want then you will see what i am saying makes sense, but i can't see that happening.

Completely agree but if you look at any sport and not just rugby league, the best players don't always make the best coaches with Dennis Betts being a good example.

Even the great man himself, Wally Lewis didn't pull up any trees In his stint at Gold Coast the first time around when they were in the NSWRL (as it was then).

Agreed, and this applies not only in sport, but in any job; being good at something doesn't necessarily make you good at managing or motivating other people to do that thing.

I hope he doesn't move to Quins................purely that he'd probably only move now if we werne't getting a franchise & I certainly don't want to see his boring brand of rugby at Quins given they're only a few miles down the road from me!!!

icon_eek.gif not sure how you can judge Willie on that,
its not like he could sign his own players could he so he would of had to play with what he had in front of him,
as its been mentioned on here, the best players don't make the best coach its all down to inspirational talk,

John Kear came to us at exactly the right time for the club. He worked miracles. Is he still the right man for the job? Well, consider the job he's faced with:
Players- Im sure they mean well, but last season was just farcical, we lost too many key players immediately the season was under way. How was JK supposed to re-work his strategies after losing Newton, Brough and Tronc?. Even I can sympathise from t'other side of the world.
Finances- as shambolic as they've always been since god knows when- the late '70s perhaps?
I dont reckon John Kear has a great hand to play with, he never will have at Wakefield, unless funds are made available.
Without funds and a franchise, we might as well plan to stand and watch Wakey Vs Swinton in front of 450 diehards.
As far as Im aware, there isn't an option to lose the franchise and stay at Belle Vue is there?
Wh'd step into John Kear's shoes? Not me!!

I agree fully. lets hope alot of lessons have been made from this season and we get some news on the 22nd of october. Then we can plan ahead and make a future for the club as a whole to look forward to.
