| Quote: 1315trinity "This is a good summary of what many posters have said on here,
I sincerely hope for the good of the club that the new coach brings all the attributes needed to raise the playing level - and for some it will have to be sooner rather than later- but my experience of watching Trinity very few new coaches have brought the success we all crave for, although JK is the nearest to it. I'd have him back tomorrow but I doubt he'd come back., Danny Ward I really don't know.
Perhaps we should all bear in mind the last coach to bring us what we wanted pretty quickly was CC - we need to realise that if CC got it wrong the new coach will more than likely not bring the same instant results and will require time to get it right - but I don't mean 5 years!'"
C C dropped lucky,it was B Smith who did the hard work .Even brought in is own conditioner because he had to get the squad fit

| I was quite a fan of Smith but let's not overdo it.
We were 5th in the league 2 years after he left. You can't put that down to Smith.

| Still need a task master to get the best out of our or any team for that matter not a drinking buddy. The term give an inch and take a mile has been used to full affect for far too long and now we have a chance for real change at the club.

Well we all have our opinions but I don't buy that. As I remember it we were not playing well at all until Smith left under a cloud and Chester arrived.

Truly believe we would have been a tougher no nonsense squad and probably would have looked a lot different to the one that take the field today ,i Honestly could see Smith allowing the tail to wag the dog as has been allowed on far too many occasions.whether the relationship would have worked long term is up for debate but he certainly made his mark in his short tenure at the club.

He wanted to buy into the club and Carter didn't want that.
He wanted better resources which we couldn't offer, like heating in the gym.
He's a string character so decided to go.
Carter convinced him to stay after million pound game. He said he'd dkne enough then and wanted to go so the new season with no real changes was probably not what he wanted.

You could put it down to Kear when he was working at the same time as Chester.
But that wasn't what was said.

We smashed Hull Kr at home when we went through a decent little run a few months back, smashed Hudd too in that same patch, then get beat by a Hudd team missing a load of players. There are many factors to creating a consistently competitive team, the coach Obviously being right up there. I’ve seen enough in those performances to know we are simply better than how we have been performing. Until we get a Very rich benefactor So we can spend to the full cap, get better training facilities etc then we will always be having to punch above our weight. And even that is not a recipe for success ie Hudd/ Warrington. I’m just intrigued to see how we perform today and for the rest of the season under poaching and see if we have different attacking/ defence structures compared to chester.

I just thinks a team thing. Chester lifted the team after a tough time with Smith. Kear gave some stability for Chester to work with.
It's no different to saying Powell benefited from having Orr with him.
It hasn't been as good without him but it doesn't mean Powell was a bad coach without them.

| Quote: Sacred Cow "The sad part of all that is despite Fifita not being the player he was if you look at the stats he has still been our most effective forward by some distance. Most metres, most tackle busts, most offloads and only 11 tackles behind our leading tackler which is Westerman. It's a pretty damming indictment of the rest of our pack to be honest.'"
It’s not his individual stats it’s more what he used to bring. He had a magic that galvanised the team whenever he was on. I may be missing something but I don’t see those special moments, those above and beyond.
It’s as if he’s saying to the coach, I can play with one eyes shut and I’m still better than the rest. I want him back playing with both eyes open, think he did that today.

Don’t agree. Chesters time came and went. He dad three years of relative highs and three lows.
We don’t need to mash the blokes legacy into the ground to justify sacking him. He was an excellent coach for a while than for whatever reason he lost it. Only extreme example like Alex Ferguson maintain it to the end and CC was never that.
